This week the world lost a sensation: the “king of the paparazzi,” as he is called in Europe, Pascal Rosteing, said that newspapers are preparing to publish evidence of a love affair between US President Barack Obama and pop diva Beyoncé. The news was picked up by the European media, and journalists around the world were rubbing their hands in anticipation. But the bomb didn't go off. The very next day, Rosten took back his words, saying that he was just joking.

What consequences could the photographs compromising Obama have had if the newspapers had published them? It is obvious that if Rosten’s words were true, US Democrats would have suffered severe reputational losses, and who knows how they would have affected the presidential elections in 2016. More recently, French President Francois Hollande found himself at the center of a scandal and public outrage. Thanks to the photographs of a lucky paparazzi, the whole world learned that Hollande was cheating on the first lady with actress Julie Gaye.

Now the paparazzi are not just trying to catch show business stars by surprise, they are influencing politics, careers and the lives of celebrities and even representatives of the ruling royal dynasties. Medialeaks has collected photographs of the “kings” of the industry that have become legendary.

1. Lady Di's loneliness

February 11, 1992. The photographer photographed Princess Diana alone at the “temple of love” - the Indian Taj Mahal. This was the moment when Lady Diana realized the power of the paparazzi and decided to collaborate with them: their photographs could show the world what was going on in her soul. Many interpreted the message of this photograph as follows: “Look, I’m alone. My husband doesn't love me."

According to one version, the death of the Princess of Wales in a car accident in Paris was precisely the fault of an annoying paparazzi: he wanted to take a photo, and Diana tried to hide from him. But in 2008, the court found that the princess died as a result of homicide by negligence due to the drunk driver of her car.

2. Mother and child

May 18, 2006. Pop star Britney Spears nearly dropped her baby Sean Preston Federline as she walked to her car. The boy was saved by the singer’s bodyguard, who quickly responded to what was happening.

In her free hand, Spears holds an alcoholic drink.

This photo triggered a wave of public indignation in America; activists began to demand that the singer be deprived of her parental rights. In 2006, she divorced her husband Kevin Federline, and a difficult period began in her life: she shaves her head, constantly appears in public drunk and makes scandals. In 2007, the Los Angeles Federal Court awarded custody of the children to the father.

3. Secret love president

January, 2014. The French magazine Closer is published with a “bomb” on the cover: President Francois Hollande has love affair with actress Julie Gaye and cheating on his common-law wife Valerie Trierweiler. The "First Lady" of France is hospitalized with a nervous breakdown.

Closer writes that the president uses a secret apartment in the west of Paris to meet with his lover. Hollande came to Gaia on a motorcycle, and his face was covered with a helmet, the paparazzi demonstrates.

After the publication of the note, Hollande threatens to sue the magazine, but in the end, on January 25, he officially announced his break with Trierweiler.

4. Shortly before the tragedy

1960s, the author of the photo is the “king of the paparazzi” of America, Ron Galella. The photograph shows director Roman Polanski and his wife, American actress Sharon Tate. A few years later, while 8 months pregnant, she would be brutally murdered in her own home by members of Charles Manson’s criminal commune.

The baby was due at the end of August 1969. Sharon and Roman decided that if it was a boy, he would be named Paul Richard - in honor of both grandfathers.

5. Gone with the Wind Jackie

October, 1971. Galella filmed former US first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis through the window of a taxi in which he was watching for her appearance on the street. The paparazzi himself calls this photo “Jackie Gone with the Wind”; in the world of photographers, she made a real revolution: from now on everyone knew that paparazzi could take stylish, iconic photographs, and not engage in simple “voyeurism.”

“This is my favorite photo of Jackie. There is no makeup, no styling, but she is very glamorous,” Galella said about the photo.

In 1971, Jacqueline was married to Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis. After Kennedy's assassination, she said she wanted to leave the United States.

6. Princess without a swimsuit

September 17, 2012. Pascal Rostaing photographed the half-naked Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton. The Royal Family is suing Closer magazine and asking prosecutors to look into the violation of privacy.

The pictures were taken at a hotel in the south of France, where Kate and her husband Prince William were vacationing in early September 2012.

7. True Love Story

June, 1962, Italy. Elizabeth Taylor and Eddie Fisher ended up being photographed by the paparazzi. The photo confirmed that the most famous woman the world captivated Fischer, despite his recent marriage to Hollywood star Debbie Reynolds.

Taylor and Fisher's marriage would last five years. In order to get married, the actress converted to Judaism, since Fischer was Jewish, taking the name Elisheva Rachel.

8. Runaway Bride

August, 1991. American actor Jason Patric and Julia Roberts are heading to Nick and Eddie's for lunch. Despite the fact that the stars are trying to shield themselves from the paparazzi, Ron Galella manages to take a photo of the couple - already in the car. It turns out to be a very funny angle.

At one time in Hollywood, Roberts was called the “runaway bride” - because of her habit of often leaving her boyfriends. This fate did not spare Patrick either. The affair between Roberts and Patrick did not last more than one year - in 1992 the couple broke up.

9. The language of popularity

Another shot by Pascal Rostaing. A photo of supermodel Kate Moss sticking her tongue out was on the cover of one of the books with the most famous photographs of the French paparazzi called Famous.

And here is the cover itself:

10. Happy birthday, Mr. President

May, 1962. This photo for a long time was considered a good shot paparazzi who managed to capture a moment of intimacy between Marilyn Monroe and President Kennedy.

But this is not true. In fact, this photo is one of the most famous “fakes” for the paparazzi sensation: the photographer simply took people who looked like Monroe and Kennedy.

Here is a real photo from the evening when Monroe sang the famous “Happy Birthday, Mister President” on Kennedy’s 45th birthday.

Paparazzi - for some it is pure evil, for others it is an opportunity to learn as much as possible about the lives of celebrities. The French museum of modern art, the Center Pompidou-Metz, organized a few months ago an exhibition of the best paparazzi photographs of last half century. And although many paparazzi do not consider themselves artists, as they say their goal is to spy on the lives of stars and sell pictures at a higher price, some works can be called works of art. See funny, sometimes scandalous, but still stunning paparazzi photos from the last half century.

13 PHOTOS

1. Paparazzi are waiting for Anita Ekberg at the airport - a still from the film “The Sweet Life”. (Photo: Pierluigi Agency).

The fictional character of a paparazzi photographer who persistently follows the life of a movie star was created by Federico Fellini in the film La Dolce Vita in 1960. Since then, photographers who take pictures of celebrities without their knowledge are called paparazzi.

2. Princess Diana. This is a photo of Alison Jackson, who likes to take photos of celebrity doppelgängers. (Photo: Alison Jackson)

At first, the targets of the paparazzi were mainly actresses, then politicians and their relatives and members of the British royal family.

3. Mick Jagger and Arnold Schwarzenegger leave a hotel in Antibes, France, 1990. (Photo: Jean Pigozzi).

Photographs taken from hiding places, blurred, careless compositions, with sharp flashes - this is how one can characterize the style of the paparazzi, who, as a rule, use long lenses for filming, move in fast cars and wait for hours for their “victims” in front of their houses or favorite restaurants.

4. Pictured: the contents of Madonna's trash can, 1990. (Photo: Pascal Rostain et Bruno Mouron).
5. George Bush trying to solve a Rubik's cube is one of the most famous photographs Alison Jackson, who loves to play with her look famous people. (Photo: Alison Jackson)
6. Marlene Dietrich attacked a photographer who was trying to photograph her at the airport in Paris. But another paparazzi was luckier. (Photo: Daniel Angeli / BESTIMAGE).

The impudence of the ubiquitous paparazzi, who take pictures despite protests, sometimes causes aggression among stars, often leading to assault.

7. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie get into a car in Paris. (Photo: Sébastien Valiela/Eyewitness).

One thing is certain, paparazzi deprive their “victims” of the right to privacy. Many of them call it the price of fame and fame.

The human passion for voyeurism has made the work of photographers extremely profitable business. We present the ten most expensive frames in the entire history of the scandalous photography craft. Prices are given at US dollar exchange rates as of November 2007...

The photo report uses materials from SIM magazine... $230,000 per shot with Freddie Mercury!
In 1990, the paparazzi began a real hunt for the already deeply ill Freddie Mercury. The singer publicly admitted that he had AIDS only the day before his death, but rumors appeared long before that. The musician practically did not leave the house. However, the paparazzi still managed to catch Freddie, exhausted by illness, in the company of British rock star Harry Glitter at lunch in one of the most elite restaurants in London.

Attack of Britney - $250,000
February 21, 2007 in front of his house ex-spouse Kevin Federline was attacked by shaved head Britney Spears with an umbrella in her hand paparazzi car nicknamed Danny Boy from the X17 agency.

This largest paparazzi center in Los Angeles (about 100 employees) specializes only in spying on Britney. Day and night, two or three jeeps with gloomy, silent Latinos follow the star on his heels.

The author of the photographs, in addition to the $250,000 fee, earned another $40,000 from the sale of his jeep, scratched by the singer.

Kate Moss Snorting Cocaine - $300,000!
In October 2005, the British edition of The Daily Mirror published photographs of model Kate Moss snorting cocaine with her friend Pete Doherty. As a result, Chanel and Burberry immediately broke their contracts with Kate.

The model was forced to repeatedly make excuses, apologize and undergo drug addiction treatment. And the paparazzi hit a great jackpot for scandalous photos - $ 300 000!

"Penthouse" became disgraced - $500,000 in favor of the paparazzi...
The entire circulation of the issue, where photographs of our sexy sportswoman Anna Kournikova were published, had to go under the knife... They were sold to the magazine by an amateur paparazzo from St. Louis, a certain Frank, who managed to film several girls sunbathing. Frank was convinced that one of them was the elusive Kournikova: firstly, she was looking for privacy, and secondly, the paparazzi... “identified her by the shape of her nipples.” Then he made excuses that he had never seen Kournikova herself, only a photo where she was wearing a tight sports T-shirt, treacherously revealing the shape of her natural jewelry. "Penthouse" didn't notice the catch and bought the tapes. But in the photograph of “Kournikova,” Judith Soltis Benetton, the adopted daughter of Italian fashion designer Luciano Benetton, suddenly identified herself. "Penthouse" was shocked, Judith and Kournikova were too, only Frank was happy - he is now a celebrity! This guy lost $500,000 in this embarrassment...

$1,000,000 for a photo of a baby...
In September 2004, in London, the notorious paparazzi Steve Sands (officially included in the list of 50 Most Disgusting New Yorkers) photographed the daughter of rock musician, Coldplay leader Chris Martin and actress Gwyneth Paltrow. This was the first paparazzi photograph of a star baby in history...

Subsequently, stars began to request millions in fees for photo shoots of their children - in 2007, couples Brad Pitt - Angelina Jolie and Tom Cruise - Katie Holmes did this. To be fair, it should be noted that in one of his interviews, Steve Sands hinted that Gwyneth Paltrow does not do anything for free.

So, most likely, he shared with her a percentage of the sales of these photographs... $1,000,000 for a photo shoot is, you see, a lot.

$1,100,000 for a queen's love affair...
In 1982, Princess Caroline of Monaco, after divorcing her husband, French banker and playboy Philippe Junot, began dating athlete Guillermo Vilas, an Argentine tennis genius and the first Latin American to win a Grand Slam tournament.

Pictures of the couple appeared on the covers of 54 magazines. Until now, successful angles of the princess and the tennis player bring profit to these magazines - the pictures are in constant demand at online auctions. $1,100,000 for a photo - do you think this is an absolute record? Unfortunately no...

Jacqueline Onassis, naked - $1,200,000
For a photograph of a nude Jacqueline Onassis, the famous paparazzi of the 70s, Ron Galella, received $ 1,200,000. In 1970, disguised as a Mexican gardener, wearing a sombrero and mustache and hiding the camera in a wheelbarrow with turf, Galella made his way to a carefully guarded island - the private property of Onassis and took a famous topless photo of Jacqueline.

$1,400,000 - fighting king...
On the evening of August 15, 1958, Italian photographer Tazio Secchiaroli was walking through a fashionable quarter of Rome, where he came across the Egyptian King Farouk, rocking the company of two beauties at an outdoor table at the Cafe de Paris. He photographed the crowned playboy who overturned the table and attacked him with his fists and went down in history as the founder of the genre - it was Secchiaroli who became the prototype of that same Signor Paparazzi from the famous Fellini film “La Dolce Vita.” $1,400,000 - and that's not the limit...

$1,500,000 - the death of model Anna Nicole Smith...
That time the paparazzi had a blast...

The last photo was published by all the world's more or less decent publications...

A video of the Playboy star undergoing artificial respiration and cardiac massage was purchased by Splash News & Picture Agency for $1,500,000...

Where does this price come from? But because the footage was obtained just a few hours after her death...

And he bought photographs of Anna Nicole in a bag for transporting corpses for a rounder sum and did not hesitate to publish the American tabloid National Enquirer, in which she wrote a column during her lifetime. Another $1,500,000... Anna Nicole would be flattered...

Princess Diana was valued at $6,000,000... When in 1997 the paparazzi chasing Princess Diana's car were blamed for the death of Lady Di, they considered it a monstrous absurdity: "It's as if children killed a nursing mother!"

They recalled that just a few months ago, for a series of photographs of the princess and her new friend Dodi al-Fayed on a yacht in Saint-Tropez (the first evidence of an affair), colleagues managed to earn $6 million...

This is the largest fee in more than a century of photography history. And this is the most expensive photograph in her history...

It just seems that the life of celebrities consists of only advantages. In fact, they also have enough costs. Take the paparazzi, for example. What is the main indicator of interest in you? That's right, a crowd of people with cameras following you around day and night.

Celebrities and paparazzi understand that they can’t live without each other, but sometimes the celebrity’s nerves can’t stand it and a fight begins. Some people prefer hand-to-hand combat, while others defend the right to privacy exclusively by legal means.

Brad Pitt called for the help of lawyers to protect himself from paparazzi intrusion. It must be said that the laws regarding such interference in France are quite strict.

Brad Pitt's patience was overflowing with the publication of photographs taken from a helicopter using very powerful optics. Photos of Brad Pitt driving a golf cart with his daughter Shiloh on his lap have leaked online. The public is outraged: “He’s worse than Britney Spears, he’s putting the child in danger!”

In addition to the ill-fated photograph with Shiloh, photographs of the Jolie-Pitt family in full were leaked online.

Angelina and Brad are said to have done Knox and Vivienne's first $11 million photoshoot for People magazine. The paparazzi know that before the publication of this photo shoot, any photographs of the twins are worth their weight in gold, and they do not know the limits in their desire to take the coveted shot.

Sienna Miller has no children. But her new boyfriend Balthazar Getty has four of them. And, one can assume that they and Balthazar Rosetta Millington were not very pleased to see Sienna and Getty everywhere, taken by the paparazzi.

Sienna intends to meet in court with representatives of two British tabloids News Of The World and Sun, as well as with the Big Pictures agency. The actress accuses them of interfering in her private life. Sienna and her lawyers already have experience - last year they won a case against News Of The World and Sun, which paid the actress about 80 thousand dollars in compensation.

Another defendant in the case of interference with Sienna Miller's privacy, the Big Pictures agency, is worth telling in more detail. It is run by Darrin Lyons, who has made a fortune photographing celebrities. Lyons owns the Attica nightclub in London, the clothing company T.N.U.C culture, real estate in the UAE and shares football club Melbourne UTD.

People like Lyons are called odious individuals. Born and raised in Australia, he worked as a photographer before moving to London at 22, where he worked for the Daily Mail and News Of The World. In 1992, he founded his own agency. Lyons became widely known after a scandal in which he found himself at the center David Beckham and his personal assistant Rebecca Luz, they are in a love affair.

Lyons has attracted fans to his business:

“Of course, high-quality photographs that usually appear in newspapers are taken by professionals, but more often, someone has access to a star or simply happens to be in the right place at the right time.”

In 2006, Darrin launched the celebrity website MrPaparazzi.com, where he invites users to post pictures and videos:

"Celebrities use media when they need to sell something - a CD, a book. But when the media does the same to them, that is, it begins to sell them themselves."

In the book Down Under, Darrin Lyons described how difficult his work is and what he risks for the sake of a good shot.

But you have to take risks. The same Sienna Miller, for example, is not averse to dealing with photographers without waiting for court hearings.

In 2004, when Cameron Diaz was still dating Justin Timberlake, she said in an interview that she would move to New York just because she was tired of being harassed by the paparazzi. One day, Cam and Justin simply took the camera from one of the reporters.

In 2006, Woody Harrelson lost his nerve. The actor was angry with a photographer working for TMZ. He tried to choke a reporter and then broke his camera. The paparazzi community was outraged by the incident, but the LAPD sided with Woody Harrelson.

The biggest paparazzi hater in Hollywood is Sean Penn. He just can't stand them. During the filming of the film "Shanghai Surprise" in 1986, Sean Penn found a reporter in his room and was about to hang him head down from the balcony on the ninth floor. Sean Penn was arrested, but this only made him more intransigent. He never misses an opportunity to lash out at photographers.

In 2006, in London, two photographers fell under the hot hand of the not entirely sober leader of the band Jamiroquai Jay Kay, one of whom the musician injured his nose and broke his glasses. Only the arriving police were able to calm the bully down.

This winter at Auckland Airport, New Zealand, singer Björk is seen by the paparazzi. Her companion asked the photographers not to take pictures, but they ignored his request, for which they received a fitting rebuff. A reporter from The New Zealand Herald newspaper was especially injured; Björk tore his T-shirt. Neither the photographer nor the singer filed a statement with the police.

This is not the first conflict between the Icelandic singer and the paparazzi. In 1996, in Thailand, Björk got into a fight with a female photographer when she asked the singer’s 10-year-old son a question. Bürk had to issue a public apology to avoid legal action.

Britney Spears is followed by paparazzi day and night. Last February, Britney used an umbrella.

Heather Mills is always armed, because she has her combat prosthetic with her. But she wisely does not use it and the paparazzi with her healthy right leg. This happened, for example, in February 2007.

Singer Lily Allen was also arrested and given a warning when she launched a well-aimed kick at a photographer in London last March.

Pierce Brosnan was sued by a reporter who accused the actor of causing bodily harm. It was in Malibu, in a parking lot. Brosnan and his son were returning from a restaurant when they saw paparazzi near their car. He tried to get them out, but they didn’t listen. Then Pierce used his fists. Witnesses say the paparazzi hit back. Apparently, this is why the case did not have any major consequences for Brosnan.

But rocker Tommy Lee was sentenced to public works and a $17,500 fine for a photographer he beat up leaving a Los Angeles nightclub in 1996.

Chris Martin hit a photographer after he dared to ask an inappropriate question about the musician's wife, Gwyneth Paltrow.

If you can piss off Chris Martin, who is not known to have any discreditable connections, then what can we say about Pete Doherty. Last August, Pete smashed the camera of one of the photographers who was following him. The court ordered the musician to compensate the victim for the cost of the camera in the amount of two thousand dollars.

Amy Winehouse doesn't usually have anything against the paparazzi. But if

From “ all seeing eye“Hollywood celebrities have a hard time hiding from the paparazzi. We bring to your attention fresh photographs of stars in everyday life.

Photographers caught the handsome guy Channing Tatum as he left his hotel in New York.

Movie star “Macho and Geek”, dressed in a warm sweatshirt, jeans and a baseball cap, decided to end his day with a walk along the busy and frosty streets Big Apple. Well, we'll keep him company.

And here Heidi Klum went to the 2014 Grammys pre-party in West Hollywood on Thursday night.

The party was hosted by an airline company and many celebrities were invited. The 40-year-old supermodel and part-time mother dressed in black leather and could not go unnoticed.

Grateful fans, who noted the special sexiness of her outfit, waylaid Heidi at the Chateau Marmont hotel.

Rita Ora, which is in this moment spends most of her time in Los Angeles, she was also tempted to come to Chateau Marmont.

Rita was hard to miss: she wore a super short gold dress with white accents, which she wore on her way to her car.

Weekdays Angelina Jolie take place on the set. Paparazzi captured her while working on a new project “Unbroken” , which is currently filming in Queensland, Australia.

The Changeling star relished her directorial duties and the opportunity to film some picturesque scenes on the Gold Coast.

Demi Lovato And Selena Gomez had lunch together at a restaurant Craig's Restaurant in West Hollywood. The girls greeted each other warmly, and Demi showed off long pink hair. How do you like the changes in her image?

Hilary Duff is fully engaged professional activity. Paparazzi photographed her as she parked her Porche and headed to the recording studio.

And this is the third time this week.

Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness vacationing in snowy New York.

On Friday they climbed the Empire State Building to celebrate Australia Day. The married couple has insulated themselves sufficiently: Hugh put on a burgundy shirt, over which he threw a long black coat, and Deborra smiled happily from under a black hat.

To stay in attractive shape, Hollywood stars I have to spend a lot of time in the gym.

Photographers caught it Reese Witherspoon in Los Angeles as she left a fitness club after an intense workout. It is worth noting that the actress looked fresh and attractive even after physical exertion.

And here Madonna, surrounded by a crowd of accompanying people, was photographed by paparazzi at JFK Airport in New York.

The pop icon did a strange thing: she boarded the first available flight to Los Angeles. The singer also gave eyewitnesses a gold medal, literally this word, a smile... Gold teeth?!

Elizabeth Hurley caught the attention of photographers as she left her home in London. Even for a shopping trip, Liz still carefully selects her wardrobe. Fans waiting for her on the street appreciated the combination of a leopard-print fur vest and a purple scarf.
