Tokyo Sky Tree

Height: 634 meters

Location: Japan, Tokyo

The construction of the television tower was completed recently, and its opening took place on May 22, 2012. The tower houses more than 300 boutiques, restaurants, an aquarium, a planetarium and a theater.

It is the tallest structure in Japan and the tallest television tower in the world.

The Liberation Tower is the tallest building in Kuwait today, and it is not surprising, because the height of the tower is 372 meters - there are few buildings in Kuwait that barely reach half of this height. The Liberation Tower received its name due to the fact that during its construction, Kuwait was attacked by Iraq, and the television tower was completed after the occupation. The tower has as many as 18 high-speed elevators, two of which are panoramic - moving along glass shafts, allowing you to fully enjoy the high-rise view of the city. In addition to the observation deck and revolving restaurant already familiar to such buildings, the TV tower also has 6 floors with offices and a communications center with a VIP room.

The 9th tallest building in the world is the 375-meter Tashkent TV Tower, which is also the tallest building in Central Asia.

The Tashkent TV Tower is the tallest building in Central Asia equipped with an observation deck. The TV tower in Tashkent was built over 6 years and was put into operation in 1985. The height of the tower is 375 meters; you can get to the top by one of three high-speed elevators. Three conical supports, each 93 meters high, are responsible for the stability of the Tashkent TV tower. At an altitude of 94 meters there is an observation deck from which you can see the entire panorama of the capital of Uzbekistan. Even higher is the two-hall revolving restaurant “Koinot”, the blue hall of which is at an altitude of 98 meters, and the red hall is another 6 meters higher.

The 8th place is occupied by the 385-meter Kiev TV Tower - the tallest lattice structure in the world

The Kiev TV Tower is still the tallest lattice structure in the world and it is unlikely that this record will be broken in the future - it’s just that no one builds such structures anymore. In addition to the colossal height of 385 meters for lattice structures, the Kyiv TV Tower has one more feature - not a single bolt or rivet was used in its construction! All the parts were simply held together by welding seams, so no bolts were needed. Another interesting fact associated with the construction of a television tower. The fact is that the tower was built completely differently from what we are used to seeing - not from the bottom up, but from the top down, that is, first the top was created, and the following modules were already placed under it.

Thanks to this design solution, the construction did not require the use of a single crane or cargo helicopter. The construction of the Kyiv TV Tower took 5 years - from 1968 to 1973. Upon completion of construction, a tower appeared in Kyiv, the height of which was 60 meters higher than the height of the Eiffel Tower, and it weighed 3 times less than its French counterpart. The structure rests on 4 inclined supports, and in the center there is an elevator shaft, smoothly turning into an antenna.

There are two elevators leading up - the first stops at 200 meters, and the second lifts to a height of 329 meters, but ordinary people They are not allowed into the tower. During strong wind the top of the tower can deviate several meters from central axis- this is a common occurrence.

In 7th place is the 405-meter Beijing TV Tower with traditional golden dragons at the base

The observation deck of the Beijing TV Tower offers a beautiful view of the entire Chinese capital. The Beijing TV Tower, as well as the Oriental Pearl and Menara Telecom, was put into operation in 1995, and since then China Central Television has been broadcasting from here. Full Height The towers together with the antenna are 405 meters, which makes it the seventh largest television tower in the world today.

The foot of the Beijing TV Tower, with traditional Chinese golden sculptures of dragons. The Chinese were no exception and placed them in the TV tower observation deck and a revolving restaurant. At night, the Beijing TV Tower is effectively illuminated, and the entire structure can simultaneously turn completely yellow, or blue, green, etc.

The 6th tallest TV tower in the world is located in the capital of Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur.

This is the 421-meter Menara Tower, which is the second structure in the city whose height has crossed the 400-meter mark (the first structure was the Petronas Towers Twin Towers). The Menara TV Tower reached a height of 421 meters in 1994, during the antenna installation ceremony. The tower was built for 5 years, from 1991 to 1996, and half of this time was spent only on digging a foundation pit, laying the foundation and basement. By the way, during the laying of concrete, an absolute record was set for Malaysia - continuous pouring of concrete for 31 hours.

The construction of the tower itself began only in May 1994 (and after 4 months it reached its maximum height). The dome of the main lobby is designed using the “Honeycomb Vault” technique and resembles a giant diamond. Today in the sky of Kuala Lumpur there are only two structures higher than 400 meters - the Menara Tower and the twin skyscrapers Petronas Towers.

On the 5th line rises the 435-meter Tehran Borje Milad - the tallest building in Iran

The Borje Milad TV Tower is the tallest building in Iran. Borje Milad adorns the capital of Iran, the city of Tehran. The highest point of the tower antenna is at 435 meters altitude. At an altitude of 315 meters there is the roof of a 12-story capsule, which can be accessed by one of six panoramic elevators.

At an altitude of 276 meters there is a small revolving restaurant from which you can see the full panorama of the city. Above the restaurant there are various service spaces for television, radio broadcasting, weather stations, etc. At night, a beautiful, unobtrusive backlight turns on on the “head” of Borje Milad, and the lower part is illuminated by spotlights.

4th place is occupied by the futuristic design of the 468-meter Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower, which cannot be confused with any other thanks to two characteristic spheres with a diameter of 45 meters each..

Today, the Oriental Pearl is the tallest television tower in Asia and the fourth tallest television tower in the world, second only to the Guangzhou Tower, the CN Tower and the Ostankino Tower. The total height of the pearl is 468 meters, with the topmost ball crowning the tower located at an altitude of 263 meters above the ground. The ball has a diameter of 45 meters and on its first tier, at an altitude of 267 meters, there is a small rotating restaurant. Even higher, at an altitude of 271 meters, there is a dance floor, a bar and 20 rooms with karaoke.

But that’s not all - at a height of 350 meters there is a penthouse with an observation deck, a conference room and a coffee shop! The Oriental Pearl looks very impressive against the background of Shanghai skyscrapers, two of which are among the ten tallest buildings in the world. At night, beautiful multi-colored lights turn on on the Eastern Pearl.

The top three by a significant margin is opened by our 540-meter Ostankino TV tower, which survived the terrible fire of 2000

Ostankino TV Tower is one of the symbols of Moscow and Russian television. The tower not only provides television coverage throughout the country, but also houses many television studios. In terms of signal strength, technical equipment and other indicators, there are no equal facilities in the world. The height of the tower is 540 meters.

Constant broadcasting of television programs in the Soviet Union began back in 1939. Signal transmission was provided through the Shukhov Tower on Shabolovka. After the Great Patriotic War it was decided to improve the quality of television broadcasting, which required the construction of an additional television tower. At first it was built next to the television center and the Shukhov Tower. But the need to build a more advanced system was obvious.

In 1960, the television center on Shabolovka was transferred to the State Committee for Radio Broadcasting and Television. This organization became the customer for the construction new station in Ostankino. The development of the project itself was carried out by the Mosproekt organization. Construction took place from 1963 to 1967. At that time it was the tallest building in the world. The idea of using pre-stressed reinforced concrete, compressed by steel cables, made it possible to make the structure of the tower simple and durable. Another progressive idea was the use of a relatively shallow foundation: according to Nikitin’s plan, the tower was supposed to practically stand on the ground and its stability was ensured by the mass of the helmet-base being many times greater than the mass of the mast structure. The project of the Ostankino Tower was invented by Nikitin in one night; the image of the tower was an inverted lily - a flower with strong petals and a thick stem. According to the original design, the tower had 4 supports, later their number was increased to 10.

Some time after the start of construction, work was suspended due to doubts about the reliability of the foundation of the structure. Next, the design of the Ostankino TV tower was carried out by the Central Research Institute for Experimental Design of Spectacular Buildings and sports facilities. Previously, this organization was entrusted with the task of developing a project for the Palace of the Soviets, which was never implemented. The final design of the tower was developed in 1963. Its authors were chief designer Nikitin and architects Batalov and Burdin. They significantly improved the previous project, increasing the height of the television tower and the amount of equipment placed on it. More than 40 different organizations were directly involved in the development of projects, construction and manufacture of equipment for the tower in Ostankino. Its construction took 4 years. In 1967, broadcasting television programs began from the Ostankino TV tower, and it was officially put into operation. However, the development of the television center continued for another year. As a result, in 1968, the first broadcast of a color image took place, and work on finishing the 3-story restaurant “Seventh Heaven” was completed, which found a place in the television center. The new television tower was named the All-Union Radio and Television Transmitting Station of the USSR Ministry of Communications named after the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution. Many engineers who took part in the creation of the new television center were awarded the Lenin Prize.

For that time it was a unique structure. In addition to the fact that the Ostankino Tower became the tallest building in the world, its technical capabilities were amazing. The tower provided not only the broadcast of radio and television programs throughout Moscow and the Moscow region, but also their distribution to other cities of the country, through a complex of radio relay equipment. The tower's equipment made it possible to simultaneously broadcast and record from dozens of different objects. The television center experienced a particularly heavy load in 1980, during the 22nd Summer Olympic Games. Equipment from the CNN news channel was even specially placed on the tower.

But this is not all the possibilities of the Ostankino TV tower. Thanks to her, the main weather center Soviet Union acquired a unique meteorological observatory, with the help of which he was able to monitor various atmospheric phenomena. The tower also provided radiotelephone communications between the main departments of the country and the head of state.

Soon the Ostankino TV Tower became one of the tourist centers of Moscow. In 1982, a building was even built next to it, providing excursion activities. There was also a modern conference room with 800 seats. The restaurant “Seventh Heaven” also expanded and improved, from the windows of which there was a stunning view beautiful view to the capital. On one of the wide rings there was also a special observation deck for tourists.

The design of the television tower in Ostankino is no less unique. It is a huge elongated cone, the walls of which are made of monolithic metal-reinforced concrete. In addition, the tower is supported by 149 ropes, which are attached to the wall of the tower. In the center of the shaft there are shafts for various cables and pipelines, an elevator and a staircase. Total weight structures, not counting the foundation, about 32 thousand tons. All technical rooms are isolated from visitors. They not only have a separate entrance, but also access via an underground passage. The main hall, which houses television transmitters, is located on the fifth floor of the tower. Above it is a technical floor. The center's personnel are protected from powerful electromagnetic radiation from transmitters by screens made of special materials.

Only some objects of the Ostankino television tower are open to tourists. These are three observation platforms, the highest of which is located at an altitude of 337 meters, a 3-story restaurant “Seventh Heaven” and a balcony. The restaurant slowly rotates around the axis of the tower, making from 1 to 3 revolutions per hour, which allows you to see the general panorama of the city. The lower observation platforms are located at an altitude of 147 and 269 meters; they are of interest in cloudy weather, when it is impossible to see anything from the upper platform. On this moment 5 out of 7 elevators operate on the TV tower. 4 high-speed elevators of the ThyssenKrupp concern and one service elevator of the Shcherbinsky elevator building plant. ShchLZ also designed one of two elevators, which should be located in the antenna part of the television tower.

The motors of high-speed elevators are installed at 360 and 364 meters. The speed of elevators can be automatically reduced based on signals from sensors that control the amplitude of the tower's swing. The elevators are also equipped with a unique system in which contactless transmission of electricity into the elevator cabin is carried out due to inductive energy transfer, based on the principle of a transformer. For this purpose, elements of inductive energy transmission are placed in the shaft, and current collectors are located on the cabin. At the moment, there is only one service elevator, number 5, located in the stylobate of the tower. Elevators No. 6 and 7, located above the observation deck and extending to approximately 450 meters, are currently turned off, and it is possible that their restoration is not planned, due to the fact that the elevator shafts are clogged with cables and feeders.

On August 27, 2000, a strong fire occurred in the Ostankino Tower. The fire occurred at an altitude of 460 m. 3 floors were completely burned out. In the process of extinguishing the fire, the fire crew commander Vladimir Arsyukov died, who decided to personally rise to the height of the fire and gave the order to the elevator operator Svetlana Loseva to press the elevator button and go with him. The girl also died. The third person killed was repairman Alexander Shipilin.

During the fire from high temperature Several dozen cables, which provide prestressing to the concrete structure of the tower, burst, but despite reasonable fears, the tower stood. The cables were subsequently restored. The intense burning of the feeders, which had external flammable polyethylene shells, was noted by all participants in the extinguishing. At the same time, drops of polyethylene falling down created secondary combustion sources at various heights. At a temperature of about 1000°C, burning fragments of collapsing feeders also flew down. Attempts by firefighters to put barriers in the way of this fiery rain using asbestos sheets were unsuccessful. The protruding structures left gaps in the sheets, through which fragments of cables and melt continued to fly down. On May 23, 2008, construction and repair work began to improve the territory and premises of the excursion route of the Ostankino TV tower.

Before the fire in 2000, the Seventh Heaven restaurant was located at an altitude of 328-334 m and occupied 3 floors. The ring-shaped premises of the restaurant performed circular rotations around their axis at a speed of one to two revolutions every 40 minutes. Over the 30 years of the tower’s existence, the observation deck and the Seventh Heaven restaurant were visited by about 10 million guests. As of January 2009, the observation deck has been completely renovated. In March, the Ostankino observation deck opened for tours, but the restaurant is still closed. In December 2006, a 4-speed elevator was put into operation.

The concert hall of the Ostankino TV tower "Korolevsky" is located in the building of the excursion building, which houses the directorate of the Moscow regional center of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network". During the operation of the observation deck, the concert hall was used as a cinema hall to show videos about the Ostankino Tower, Ostankino and television. Nowadays, the Korolevsky Concert Hall hosts concerts, theatrical performances, seminars and other events.

The second tallest television tower in the world is located in Toronto. This is the 553.3-meter CN Tower, which has held the title of the tallest building on the planet for more than 30 years.

The CN Tower has held the palm among the tallest buildings in the world for more than 30 years. The construction of the 553.3-meter CN Tower was completed back in 1975 - it is not surprising that today it is perceived not just as an integral part of Toronto, but also as a symbol largest city Canada. It’s easy to guess that the abbreviation in the name of the tower stands for Canadian National. More than 2 million people visit the CN Tower observation deck every year. The tower lost its title as the tallest structure on the planet on July 21, 2007, losing it to the under-construction Burj Dubai skyscraper, whose height that day exceeded 554 meters. The CN Tower is only 13.3 meters higher than our Ostankino TV tower, and among its advantages is the ability to withstand an 8.5-magnitude earthquake and wind gusts of up to 420 km/h. If these calculations are equal, then the CN Tower can be called one of the most reliable structures on the planet.

Well, we have finally reached the tallest television tower in the world. At the top of our list is the 610-meter Guangzhou TV Tower.

Guangzhou TV Tower has recently become the tallest TV tower in the world. The construction of the television tower lasted from 2005 to 2010 - the project was ready just in time for the start of the Asian Games in Guangzhou. Upon completion of construction, the height of the Guangzhou TV Tower reached 610 meters (of which 160 meters is the spire), “overtaking” its closest competitor, the CN Tower, by 76 meters. The basis of the design was steel pipes of large diameter. Funny fact is that the ultra-modern television tower in Chinese city Guangzhou, built at the beginning of the 21st century, is based on a design for which a patent was issued back in late XIX century - to the brilliant Russian engineer Shukhov, whose hyperboloid structures were built all over the world. Today, the tower receives about 10 thousand people every day who want to admire the breathtaking panorama of the city from a height of 450 meters...

On July 25, 1907, the Russian scientist Rosing filed a patent application for transmitting images over a distance, that is, television. From that day on, the rapid development of television broadcasting began, many television towers were built, the height of some is impressive.

Tokyo Sky Tree, Tokyo

The Sky Tree Tower in Tokyo is the tallest building in tallest TV tower in the world. The height of the tower is 634 meters. The tallest television tower in the world is very young - its grand opening took place in May 2012. This is a truly grandiose building. The silhouette lines of the tower resemble Samurai sword At the same time, it looks very futuristic.

Taking into account the difficult seismological situation in this region, the tower was designed and built in such a way that it is not afraid of either earthquakes or typhoons. The seismic resistance test took place during the construction of the tower - in March 2011, during a terrible earthquake. In addition to its direct function, the tower is a unique entertainment center for visitors. There are not only restaurants and observation decks, but also boutiques, a planetarium, an aquarium, and even a theater. The tower is a real decoration of the city, it is especially beautiful at night.

Guangzhou TV Tower, China

The tower, built in 2009, has a height of 611 meters, and for several years it held the title of the tallest television tower in the world. This tower is the biggest attraction. The tower is also called "Supermodel" for its unusually attractive architecture. She looks very feminine - graceful, transparent, slender.

The tower has an inner "core" and an outer hyperboloid mesh shell. The shell is made of large-diameter steel pipes, which give the tower an airy appearance. Moreover, the weight of this grandiose mesh is only 50,000 tons. The Guangzhou Tower is an earthquake-resistant structure designed to withstand very strong tremors. The Supermodel Tower has everything necessary to entertain tourists - observation decks, restaurants, shops, 4D cinemas. And at the top of the tower is the world's tallest horizontal Ferris wheel, which offers stunning views of the city. At night, the tower glows with stunning lighting that changes color every day of the week.

CN Tower, Toronto, Canada

This tower is almost twice as tall as the Eiffel Tower, its height is 553 meters; until 2007, it was the tallest television tower in the world, holding the palm for more than thirty years. About two million people visit the tower every year. The tower is very durable - it can withstand wind gusts of up to 420 km/h and earthquakes of magnitude 8.5. Interestingly, the tower's antenna is struck by about 78 lightning strikes annually.

At the top of the tower there is a revolving restaurant. The slow rotation of the restaurant allows visitors to take a closer look, the views of which are simply breathtaking. But this restaurant is famous not only for its entertainment, but also for its excellent food, and the restaurant’s wine list includes more than 500 wines. There is also an observation deck with a glass floor that can support a weight of up to 109 tons per square centimeter. Since August 2011, the most daring visitors who are ready to test their nerves have been offered an attraction - a walk with insurance along the unfenced open cornice of the upper observation deck.

On the vast territory of the Earth in different cities there are many amazing ones that can be classified by size, originality, uniqueness and other characteristics.

In this article we will consider high-rise buildings in the form of towers. Before we find out which Russian tower is the tallest in the country, we will briefly describe the largest buildings in the whole world.

About some skyscrapers in the world

In all developed countries The construction of modern high-tech architectural structures is widespread. A huge number of high-rise towers and buildings compete with each other in height and originality. Before we decide which is the largest tower in Russia, we will consider the tallest buildings in the world.

IN modern world Skyscrapers are a necessary architectural structure, which is inherent in megacities, where building plots are literally worth their weight in gold. In addition, such fantastic majestic buildings attract numerous tourists, captivating people with their unprecedented height, technical solutions and a wide variety of unique forms.

From the time of Tower of Babel humanity is constantly reaching higher, towards the clouds. We hear how new super tall buildings are being commissioned in one country or another. A rich and developed state strives to be the first, to show its importance and prestige, one of the ways is to rank the tallest buildings. Let us remember the phrase from the song “skyscrapers, skyscrapers, and I’m so small”; today, looking from the window of a 450-meter skyscraper, people seem not only small, they are simply invisible.

For a long time, the United States remained the champion among tall buildings, but competitors began to catch up and overtake. China, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia. Time is rapidly developing, the kings of the architectural wonders of the world are constantly fighting for the right to be the best and there are more of them every year. This list will be dedicated to the leaders in the ranking of tall buildings.
