Pray for me, Saint Nicholas, Creator and Maker, Lord Almighty. Be merciful to me in my present life and in the future. May the Lord not reward us for our deeds and our stupidity, but only reward us according to his mercy.

I trust in your intercession before God, and I glorify your good deeds, I call on your intercession to help me. I fall before your image and repeat again that I repent of all my sins, known and unknown. I ask for help and keep hope in my soul. Deliver the Servant of Christ from all evil and give me prosperity. During his lifetime, Spyridon of Trimifuntsky worked miracles in order to help suffering people who had great financial difficulties. There is a legend that one day a peasant turned to the Saint for help. He was unable to purchase grain for sowing, and this threatened his family with famine in the future. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky asked the man to come again the next day. In the morning the Saint gave it to the peasant big piece gold, but at the same time set the condition that he would definitely give up the debt after the harvest was harvested. The peasant bought grains, sowed the field, and since the year turned out to be very fertile, he was able to reap a good harvest. According to the agreement, the peasant came to the Saint to repay his debt. Saint Spyridon took a piece of gold and immediately turned it into a snake. That is, in order to help the peasant, the Saint turned an animal into material value, performing a miracle.

The prayer appeal to Saint Spyridon is as follows:

“O heavenly Saint Spyridon, great wonderworker and servant of Christ! I come running for your mercy and ask you to protect me in everyday misfortunes. Pray for me and ask God for my well-being. You are filled with the love and goodness of Christ, your mercy and kindness are known to all believers. With your prayers you will help me receive God’s mercy and achieve everything I want in life. And I will glorify the Lord and Creator and worship the Holy Trinity. Now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen".

Pray to our Almighty Lord, Lord of Heaven and Lover of Humanity. So that he does not condemn me according to my iniquity, but bestows goodness according to his mercy. Help me, heavenly Saint, beg God for protection for me and my family. Don't let us wallow in poverty. Increase my wealth, so that it does not harm others, but only for my benefit. Amen".

Prayers and conspiracies from Vanga for wealth

Prayers to attract wealth into life from the Bulgarian healer Vanga are in great demand. Great Soothsayer has never denied the importance of financial well-being in a person's life.

Raising money

In order to attract money into life, it is necessary not only to read a prayer, but also to perform a special ritual. First of all, the day before the money ceremony, visit the temple and collect blessed water there.

The ritual takes place early in the morning at sunrise. It is important not to eat or drink anything before the ceremony, and you should not wash your face. In a separate room, completely alone, you should place a glass of water on the table in front of you. blessed water and a plate with a slice of black bread.

The following prayer is said over these attributes:

“I, the Servant of God (proper name), know that my Lord fed all the hungry with a piece of bread. So I know it will help my family too. I ask you, Lord, to make sure that we do not know need, that there is always food in our house, and that prosperity reigns. I ask, Almighty and Merciful God, to show me the path to wealth, which will be for my good. I will humbly accept all your decisions and glorify you, and my wealth will not harm others. Amen".

This prayer must be repeated three times. You can’t stammer, so it’s better to memorize the text first. Then you need to break off a piece of bread and eat it, wash it down with holy water. The remaining bread should be broken and distributed to your family members.

To return the money that was borrowed from you, you need to use the following prayer of the Great Healer. Prayer words are said immediately before bed with a lit church candle.

They sound like this:

“Lord Almighty and Almighty, I ask You for help, Servant of God (proper name). My desire is not to enrich myself, but to guide my debtor, the Servant of God (name of the debtor), on the true path. Direct, Lord, with your hand on the right righteous path, so that he can quickly resolve his worldly problems and honor him with a blessed life. For myself, I only ask for the repayment of the debt, which will help me overcome worldly difficulties. Everything is Your will. Amen".

To find a high paying job

The seer Vanga offered many prayers so that a person could call good luck into his own life. Texts that help you find a well-paid job are still in great demand today. You need to pray to your Guardian Angel during the waxing moon. When pronouncing words, you must sincerely believe that they will be effective.

The ritual consists of taking a glass of blessed water in your hands and saying the following words:

“Bright Guardian Angel looking at me from heaven. I, the Servant of God (proper name), bow before your sincerity and purity. Help me, hear my request. Help me find a high-paying job and earn money. Help me succeed in life not for the sake of evil intent, but so that my life is filled with peace and prosperity. Bright Guardian Angel, your help is very important to me and my fate depends on it. I pray for the sake of all that is holy, grant me good luck. Amen".

Any prayers for money will be effective only if they are read by a sincere believer. It should be remembered that you should not resort to magic even in the most difficult financial situations, because this is a sin that will take a very long time to atone for.

IN Orthodox Christianity There are saints to whom you can turn in any troubles in life. There is also a saint whom people pray to in case of financial need and housing problems. This is Saint Spyridon, Bishop of Trimifuntsky (Salamin). His prayer is widely known among his admirers. It helps to get rid of poverty, gain material well-being, resolve issues related to movable and real estate.

Spyridon of Trimifuntsky is a saint to whom people turn for help in financial matters and ask for financial well-being. The means of conversion is usually prayer, but the result will be more effective if the person praying reads the akathist to the saint for 40 days, without a single omission. However, this ritual is complicated by the fact that the akathist itself has a voluminous text, which only the most stubborn person can cope with - many simply cannot stand it and get zero results. The disadvantage of this ritual is also that the akathist cannot be read during fasting. Therefore, I suggest using alternative method and prefer the akathist prayer for money and well-being.

Reading rules

The prayer to Spyridon is much smaller in volume and can be read at any time - until your request is fulfilled by the saint. For these purposes, it is recommended to purchase an icon with the image of the saint from the church in advance.

Before you begin to pray, you need to light a candle in front of the icon of the saint - it is advisable that it be bought in the church. Next, turning to the saint, mentally or out loud you should formulate your request in your own words and only then proceed to say a prayer. It sounds like this:

There is also a more simplified version of the prayer for financial well-being:

Expression of gratitude

As a sign of gratitude and appreciation for the help provided, it is recommended to read the troparion to Trimifuntsky. His text:

A troparion is a short prayer chant that reveals the essence of a saint. The troparion will act as an invisible thread connecting you and the saint - rest assured, he will definitely help you in difficult times.

Biography facts

The saint was born more than 17 centuries ago on greek island Cyprus, in the family of a wealthy farmer. His childhood and youth passed serenely, calmly and comfortably. Spiridon inherited a huge plot of land and a large house from his wealthy parents.

Spiridon himself worked on his lands, kept a large number of livestock, and shepherded. He was a shepherd, so on icons he is usually depicted wearing a simple shepherd’s hat.

Spiridon didn't even have primary education, but by nature he had a lively, sharp mind, kind heart and a pure soul. He treated all those in need generously and helped them, including with money. For his quiet and virtuous life, he was appointed bishop of his hometown of Trimifunt.

The turning point in the bishop's life was the death of his beloved wife. After her death, he sold all his fortune and farm. The bishop distributed the proceeds for this to the poor, and he himself went to wander the world, taking with him only a large number of clothes.

Bishop Trimifuntsky became known as a great miracle worker during his lifetime, during his wanderings: he treated physical and mental illnesses, healed even the terminally ill, cast out demons and resurrected the dead. Also, on behalf of those in need, Saint Spyridon turned to God and helped them solve material problems.

The life of the Bishop of Trimifuntsky was cut short around 348. Spyridon was buried in his hometown of Trimifunt, in the Church of the Holy Apostles. His relics remained incorrupt and in the 7th century were transferred to Constantinople, to the Temple of Sophia. After the capture of Byzantium, in 1460 the relics of the saint found their refuge in Kerkyra (the island of Corfu). They rest there to this day, in a church built specifically in honor of the bishop.

The relics of the saint at present

The servants of the temple where the relics of Spyridon are currently located, and numerous pilgrims testify to the miracles that still occur around the saint. Despite the fact that his remains are more than 17 centuries old, appearance it has undergone virtually no changes. Body temperature also remained unchanged - about 36.6C.

The priests claim that Spyridon still does not stop his wanderings around the world, continuing to help all those in need. As proof, they cite the saint’s clothes and shoes - they regularly have to be changed due to wear and tear. The shoes of Spyridon of Trimifuntsky constantly wear out - they are replaced with new ones from time to time, and the old worn ones are not thrown away, but are sent to Orthodox monasteries located all over the world, and with them the needy and suffering receive long-awaited help from the saint.

By the way, one of his shoes was given to the Danilovsky Monastery in Moscow - where he is now, helping both the monastery servants and numerous parishioners.

Some legends about the miracles of the saint

About miracles Saint Spyridon numerous narratives are composed. He devoted his entire life to mercy and was always distinguished by his special attitude towards the poor and disadvantaged. To describe all his extraordinary deeds in this material is (practically) impossible work, so as an example I will give only his most amazing deeds.

For example, there is a well-known legend about how Spiridon once helped a poor peasant who did not have the money to buy grain from a rich merchant. He promised to help him and the next morning he brought the farmer a whole pile of gold and made him promise to repay the debt after the harvest. The harvest turned out to be so bountiful that the farmer, using his surplus, easily bought back from the merchant the previously left deposit of gold borrowed from Spiridon. The peasant gratefully returned the debt to the saint, and he led him into the garden, offering to thank the one who had distinguished himself with such great generosity. The saint put the gold on the ground and said a prayer - before the eyes of the astonished farmer, the wealth turned into a snake, which calmly crawled into its hole. Thus, the gold, previously turned into a snake, took on its original form.

Another one amazing story tells how the bishop performed the ritual of resurrecting the dead. An inconsolable mother, whose only child had died, turned to the bishop. After praying, he brought the baby back to life. But suddenly, from sudden happiness, the woman herself died. However, the saint was able to resurrect her.

Prayers help not only improve health and ward off trouble. With faith you can return wealth to your home and attract abundance.

Many people believe that it is a sin to pray for money. After all, Jesus Christ was not rich, and many Saints also made do with little. The church constantly mentions that wealth leads straight to hell and makes people sinners.

Actually this is not true. There are many prayers to the Lord God and his saints for prosperity in the home and financial well-being, and many successfully apply them in their lives. After all, money gives the opportunity to live happy life, make your dreams come true, as well as help those in need along the way and simply make the world a better place. Of course, in addition to monetary wealth, you need to learn how to correctly formulate your desires.

Matronushka-mother, I trust in you with all my heart and soul. However, remember: in order for your requests to be heard, you do not need to sit at home and wait for inspiration. Move towards your goal, even in small steps. But this is the only way you can get what you want. Believe in yourself, think positively and don't forget to press the buttons and

On February 6, 2017, Christians celebrate the day of remembrance of Saint Xenia of St. Petersburg. Her veneration was lifelong...

The island of Corfu (or Kerkyra in Greek) is located in the northeastern part Ionian Sea. The length of the island is 120 km, the width of the island is from 4 to 40 km, the length of the coastline is 217 km. Corfu is the second largest island in the Ionian Sea after Kefalonia. It is the northernmost of the entire group of Ionian islands and is considered the most beautiful. Its territory is covered with lush vegetation, among which the most common are cypress, olive and citrus trees.

The capital of the island is the city of Kerkyra. In 2001, its population was about 40,000 inhabitants, among them: Italians, Greeks, Jews. The city was founded in the 8th century. BC. The Romans, Byzantines, Goths, Venetians, Turks, French, and English argued for the right to own Kerkyra. All the conquerors, trying to leave the island behind them, built many palaces and fortresses, so Kerkyra is a unique combination different cultures. The Old Town traces its history back to the 13th century. This is the largest "living" medieval complex in Greece. The appearance of the city most strongly shows the influence of the Venetians, who ruled here for 400 years. The Venetians decorated Corfu with monuments, squares, churches and multi-storey buildings with red roofs, so that it looked like an Italian city of the Renaissance. After them, power over the city and the entire island first passed to the French and then to the British. Now the island of Corfu belongs to Greece.

The patron saint of the city of Corfu is Saint Spyridon , whose relics are kept in the church built in 1590. They pray to him, children are named in his honor - he is the most beloved and revered saint on the island of Corfu. It is believed that he saved the island four times: twice from plague, once from famine and once from Turkish invaders. The bell tower of this church is the most tall building cities.

In 2002, a monument to Admiral F.F. was opened in Corfu near the New Fortress. Ushakov (1745-1817), which is a bas-relief made of marble and bronze (sculptor V. Aidinov). One of the streets of the city of Kerkyra has long been named after the Russian admiral. At the end of the distant 18th century, Russian troops under the command of a Russian naval commander knocked out the French from the local fortress, which allowed the Greeks to gain freedom. This was the pinnacle of Ushakov’s naval and Christian service. Even Suvorov regretted: “Why wasn’t I at least a midshipman at Corfu then!” On March 27, the first day of Holy Easter, Ushakov scheduled a solemn service with the removal of the relics of St.Spyridon of Trimifuntsky. In memory of the liberation of Corfu, the grateful inhabitants of the island presented the admiral with a golden sword studded with diamonds. In 2001, Feodor Ushakov was canonized. Now in the Church of St. Spiridon a gift from Russia is kept - an icon of the holy righteous warrior Theodore (Ushakov) with particles of his relics"

Temple of the SaintSpyridon of TrimifuntskySaint's ChurchSpyridon of TrimifuntskyOrthodox church on the island of Corfu, located in the center of Kerkyra. The temple is the location of the relics of the saint, who is rightfully revered as the heavenly patron of the island.
The original church of the saint
Spiridon was located in another area of the city, but during the construction of the city walls it had to be demolished. The current temple was built in 1590. The building was built in a style typical of the Ionian Islands and is unlike other churches in Greece. The rest of Greece still strictly follows Byzantine architectural patterns, while in the Ionian Islands, heavily influenced by 17th-century Italian architecture, the churches are small and low, with impressive belfries.
Ceiling of the Saint's Church
Spiridon painted in 1727 by Payotis Doxaras, who studied in Rome and Venice and was a passionate admirer of Tintoretto, Titian and Veronese. However, the creations of Doxaras died due to dampness and mid-19th century centuries were replaced by copies of the work of N. Aspiotis.
Ancient church of the saint
Spiridon was considered the richest in the East; not only Orthodox Christians, but also Catholics donated to the temple. Numerous contributions were made by the Russian imperial house, in particular by Empress Catherine II and Emperor Paul I. In the temple, the visitor is amazed by the huge gold and silver chandeliers, the marble iconostasis, and unusual-looking icons in gold frames on the vault. Throughout the cathedral and above the shrine with the relics of the saint Spiridon A large number of metal figurines hang on chains: ships, cars, individual body parts - signs of gratitude from parishioners and pilgrims who received help from the saint.
In 1801, after the liberation of the island from Napoleon's troops by Admiral Theodore Ushakov (canonized), the temple of St.
Spiridon in Kerkyra was accepted under the special protection of Russia, as a sign of which the imperial coat of arms was installed above its western gates (by 1807 this protection retained only a nominal character, since under the terms of the Treaty of Tilsit, signed by Alexander I and Napoleon, the Ionian Islands went to France).
During the Second World War aerial bomb, dropped from an airplane onto the temple of the saint
Spiridon , exploded in the air without causing any damage to the building.

To understand how revered Spyridon of Trimythos is in Corfu, you need to spend several hours in the temple. It seems that this is the center of attraction for all the inhabitants of the island, the place around which their entire unhurried, measured life is built. Throughout the day, the temple is never empty for a minute. And it’s not just the numerous pilgrims. Local residents constantly come here, venerate the shrine with the relics of the saint, and take candles. Unlike our churches, they sell not only small, but also huge candles - almost as tall as a person. They are placed on the street, in front of the entrance to the cathedral, where a special candlestick is equipped. Elderly people sit reverently in the temple, watching what is happening. Usually at five o'clock in the evening the shrine with the relics of the saint is opened and a line of huge queue of those wishing to venerate the shrine. By the grace of God the honest relics of St. Spiridon has been preserved incorruptible and, what is especially remarkable, the skin of his flesh has the usual softness of the human body.Temple of St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky locatedon Agios Spyridonos (St. Spyridon) street, facing itnorthern façade of the building

Relics of the saint until the second half of the 7th century. rested in the city of Trimifunt, and then due to Arab raids they, probably by order of Emperor Justinian II (685–695), were transferred to Constantinople. In 1453, when the capital of Byzantium fell under the onslaught of the Turks, the priest Gregory Polyeuctus, secretly taking the venerated relics, went first to Thespriotian Paramythia (modern Serbia), and in 1456 brought them to the island of Corfu (Kerkyra in Greek), where they were looking for saving many refugees from Byzantium. In Kerkyra, Polieuctos gave the sacred remains into the possession of his compatriot, the priest George Kalocheretis. The latter bequeathed a valuable treasure to his sons Philip and Luke. Philip's daughter Asimia in 1527 married the Corkyraean Stamatius Voulgaris. Her father inherited the relics Spiridon , and from then until the 60s of the 20th century, the remains of the saint belonged to the Voulgaris family. IN this moment relics of St.Spyridon of Trimifuntskybelong to the Church of Corfu (ed. - the shrine was not immediately transferred to the Holy Metropolis of Kerkyra, Pax and the Diapontine Islands, because in the will of Priest George Kaloheretis it was said that the holy relics would belong to the Kaloheretis family and should be passed on from generation to generation until this a family from each generation will produce one priest. However, in the 60s of the 20th century, Metropolitan Methodius of Kerkyra did not ordain a single representative of this family as priests, as a result of which the holy relics came into the possession of the Kerkyra Metropolis).

It is unknown when and for what reasons the right hand was separated from the relics of the saint. According to the testimony of Christodoulus Voulgaris (the great archpriest of Corfu, who lived in the 17th century), in 1592 the right hand was delivered from Constantinople to Rome to Pope Clement VIII, who in 1606 handed over the shrine to Cardinal Cesare Baronio. The cardinal, a renowned Catholic church historian, in turn handed over his right hand to the church Mother of God(S. Maria in Vallicella) in Rome, as evidenced by the corresponding entry in the church archive. L. S. Vrokinis, a Greek historian, referring to Christodoulus Voulgaris, wrote that the right hand was in the temple of the Mother of God in a cone-shaped gilded repository of non-Byzantine work, about half a meter high. In November 1984, on the eve of the feast of St. Spyridon , through the efforts of the Metropolitan of Kerkyra, Paxi and the nearby islands Timothy, the shrine was returned to the Church of Kerkyra.

Relics of Saint Spyridon They are amazing with their very appearance - by God’s Grace they are completely incorruptible. These are amazing relics - they weigh as much as the body of an adult man and miraculously do not lose the properties of living flesh, have the temperature of a human body and remain soft. Until now, scientists from different countries and religions come to Kerkyra in order to study imperishable relics Saint, but after careful consideration they come to the conclusion that no laws or forces of nature can explain the phenomenon of incorruption of these relics, which have remained intact for almost 1700 years; that there is no other explanation other than a miracle; that the almighty power of God is undoubtedly at work here.

The miraculous relics of the saintSpyridon of Trimifuntsky

The famous velvet shoes of St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky, whichthey change it often, because... the soles are constantly worn down

It is also a miracle that the patron saint of wanderers St. Spiridnos Trimifuntsky to this day he himself never ceases to “wander,” helping everyone who turns to him with faith in prayer. IN Orthodox world he is revered as a “walking” saint - the velvet shoes worn on his feet wear out and are replaced with new ones several times a year. And the worn-out shoes are cut into pieces and handed over to believers as a great shrine. According to the testimony of Greek clergy, during the “changing of shoes” a response movement is felt.
It is impossible to tell about all the miracles that the saint performed Spiridon during his earthly life, but also after death, when he became closer to God, the saint does not cease to perform them. Throughout the temple and above the sarcophagus with the relics there are “tama” hanging on chains, silver plates with a convex image of the figure of the whole person or individual parts of the body: heart, eyes, hands, feet, as well as silver boats, cars, many lamps - these are gifts from people, who received healing or help from the saint Spiridona.

Cancer with the relics of St. Spiridon . Offerings of believers.

The reliquary with relics has two locks, which can be opened with two keys at the same time. Only two people can open a cancer. And when the key doesn’t turn, it means it’s considered to be on the island, Saint Spiridon “absent”: helping someone. This story is retold from mouth to mouth.

In Kerkyra on the day of the blessed death of the saint Spiridon a solemn celebration is held in his honor and memory: the reliquary with the holy relics of the Saint is carried out from the chapel to a special place near the iconostasis, to the right of the local icon of the Savior, for three days (from Vespers on December 11 (24) to Vespers on December 13 (26) and prayer chants to the Saint. There are four more days a year when, according to a long-standing tradition, the memory of the Saint is honored in an unusually colorful and emotional way. An expression of love and gratitude to him is the holding of religious processions with the relics of the Saint (Litanies), which were installed in memory of the miraculous help of the saint Spiridon residents of the island. Litanies are performed on Palm Sunday (Vayi week), Great (Holy) Saturday, August 11 and the first Sunday in November.
In d no holidays, a glass-covered sarcophagus with the relics of St. Spiridon is taken out of the silver shrine, placed in a vertical position, and then carried on a stretcher on the shoulders of four clergymen under a special gold-woven canopy. The holy relics are preceded by bishops, clergy of all ranks, a choir, military brass bands, and candle bearers in ceremonial robes, holding thick candles with a diameter of more than 15 centimeters. They are carried in special belts slung over the shoulder. The ringing of bells floats over the city, marches of brass bands and church chants sound. There are people standing in dense rows on both sides of the street. There are stops along the route for Gospel readings, litanies and kneeling prayers. Closer to the temple, many people, hoping to receive healing, go out to the middle of the pavement in front of the procession and lie on their backs, face up, placing their children next to them so that the incorruptible relics of St. Spyridon will be carried over them in the ark.

Procession with the relics of St. Spiridon (Kerkyra, Corfu)

It seems that these days everyone comes out to the streets of the city decorated with flags and flowers: local residents and numerous pilgrims, scout troops and representatives of various branches of the military. Perfect order, goodwill, mutual respect, and sincere empathy for everything that happens reigns everywhere. The police only restrict the entry of cars into those streets along which the religious procession takes place. Anyone who cannot go outside meets the saint(Kerkyra, Corfu)

TOThe religious procession (Litany) on Palm Sunday is held in memory of the deliverance of the inhabitants of Kerkyra from the bubonic plague. In 1629–1630, a plague pandemic broke out on the island. All the efforts of the authorities to tame her were in vain. Young and old men and women in towns and villages died daily from this incurable disease. The island was threatened with complete devastation. Contrary to the recommendations of doctors to avoid crowded gatherings due to the risk of infection, local residents gathered in the temple and begged the Lord and the saint Spiridon save them from certain death. At night, the city guards from the high fortress wall saw a wonderful radiance above the Saint’s temple, something similar to the light of an unearthly lamp. After this, despite the lack of appropriate medicines, the disease began to decline and completely stopped before Palm Sunday. This religious procession is the longest, as it passes along the street that outlines the perimeter of the city, where the city walls were located at that time.

A week later, on Holy Saturday, another religious procession takes place, which was approved in memory of the miraculous salvation of the island's inhabitants from hunger; it is considered the earliest in time. At the beginning of the 16th century, there was a severe drought in Kerkyra, and a terrible famine began. During these difficult days, people gathered in the church of St. Spyridon and day and night they prayed to their intercessor for help. And the rescue did not delay: three sailing ships, loaded with grain, were on their way to Italy, but when they passed by Kerkyra, the sailors saw that the ships themselves suddenly changed course and headed towards the island; The wind also changed to help them. On Holy Saturday, ships delivered the life-saving cargo to the harbor. Surprised sailors told local residents that ahead of the sailing ships, as if showing the way, an old man dressed in a cassock was moving; he promised them a good reward: the sailors heard a strong voice that repeated several times: “Towards Kerkyra. People are starving there. You will be paid, you will pay. Towards Kerkyra."
As in the days of his earthly life in Cyprus, so after his death the merciful Spyridon did not leave the hungry without help. In memory of the miraculous salvation, the Venetian government established a religious procession with the holy relics of St. Spyridon every Holy Saturday. On this day, the sacred procession begins at 9 a.m. and is particularly majestic. After returning to the church, the celibate relics are displayed for three days - until sunset on Tuesday Easter week- for the worship of believers. The religious procession on August 11 is held in memory of the salvation of Kerkyra from the Turkish invasion in 1716. On June 24, the island was besieged by fifty thousand Turkish army, from the sea it was blocked by ships of the Ottoman Porte. Residents of the city, under the leadership of Count Schulenburg, desperately tried to repel the attacks of the infidels with weapons in their hands, but the forces of the defenders were running out after forty-six days of bloody fighting. Women, children and old people gathered in the sacred church of the saint Spiridon and prayed on their knees. The Turks had already appointed the day of the general battle, which most likely would have been the last for the townspeople.
Suddenly, on the night of August 10, a terrible thunderstorm, unprecedented at this time of year, broke out - the island was literally flooded with torrents of water. At dawn the next day, when the defenders of the island were preparing to enter into a decisive battle, scouts reported that the Agarian trenches were empty and the bodies of drowned soldiers and officers lay everywhere. The survivors, abandoning their weapons and food, in horror, hastily retreated to the sea, trying to get on the ships, but many soldiers and officers were captured. It was they who said that over the walls of the fortress, in a stormy sky, the figure of a warrior suddenly appeared, holding a lighted candle and a sword in one hand, and a cross in the other. A whole host of angels followed him, and together they began to advance and drive the Turks away. According to the descriptions of the captives, local residents recognized in this heavenly warrior their protector and patron - the saint
Spyridon of Trimifuntsky.
The unexpected rescue of the island from the Turkish invaders forced the local authorities to recognize the saint as the liberator of the island
Spiridon . As a sign of gratitude, the ruler of the island, Admiral Andrea Pisani, presented the church with a silver pendant lamp with many lamps, and the local authorities decided that every year they would provide oil to light these lamps. A year later, on August 11, a holiday was established in honor of the Saint. It has been noticed that it is in this procession that the largest number of believers take part. After the procession returns to the church, the holy relics are exhibited for three days of veneration (until sunset on August 13).
Corfu is the only island in the Ionian Sea that has never been under Turkish rule. The locals are very proud of this.
Spiridon and constantly prayed to the Lord and their heavenly patron about salvation. Their faith was not disgraced - hope in God never deceives those who have it. And this time, three days before the end of the epidemic, at the top of the bell tower, the residents of the city saw the radiance of an unearthly light, inside which the figure of the Saint with a cross in his hand was clearly visible. Saint Spiridon pursued the plague, which, taking the form of a black ghost, tried to elude the miracle worker.
To express their gratitude to the Saint, the inhabitants of the island turned to the authorities with a request to establish a day of celebration. On October 29, 1673, the Venetian government decided to hold a religious procession every year on the first Sunday of November in memory of the miraculous deliverance from the terrible disease.

Procession with the relics of St. Spiridon (Kerkyra, Corfu)

“We all only use, no one owns,” said St. John Chrysostom in his sermon on the impermanence of wealth. A person who finds himself in a financial impasse sometimes spends all his spiritual and physical strength trying to achieve success on his own.

Much time is wasted before he sees the call of God in difficulties. Prayer to Spyridon of Trimifuntsky for money, health, and placement of children often remains the only hope to get out of a difficult situation.

Saint Spyridon - patron of the needy

Before making a request to the king, the petitioner seeks the guarantee of his servants. Also, a person who wants to pray to God must seek the intercession of saints.

St. Spyridon has been revered not only by Orthodox Christians, but also by Catholics for more than one and a half millennia. The prayer to Spyridon of Trimifuntsky for money, purchasing housing and well-being is most often heard at his relics on Fr. Corfu and the temples dedicated to it.

Read about the saint:

Miracles from the Saint occur so often that they have become commonplace in the Christian world. And this is only the visible part of God’s mercy, but how many of them go unnoticed?

Among the host of Christian saints, Spyridon of Trimifuntsky is distinguished by the rare combination of a high episcopal rank and the title of a simple worker. God ordered the ministers of the church to “eat from the altar,” but Saint Spyridon, having become a priest and bishop, did not abandon her shepherd’s work. He worked not for extra wealth, but to be able to help those in need.

At the same time, the Saint was not wasteful: in his house there was always food for wanderers and loans for merchants.

Even the thieves who secretly entered the Saint's barn to steal sheep were not left without reward. Moreover, the prayer to Spyridon of Trimifuntsky for money, brought by an honest worker, did not go unheard.

When lending money, the Saint did not charge interest. At that time, this was a common practice among Christians; giving money on interest to fellow believers was considered a sin.

He did not count the repaid debts: such was his faith.

When crafty people, taking advantage of the gullibility of the Saint, tried to hide part of the debt, God revealed their intentions. But the Saint only meekly admonished the deceiver, never resorting to punishment.

Despite the 1700 years of “age difference”, even today it is not a shame to approach the Saint, as a close friend, with the most earthly request - to get an apartment, pay off debts, successfully conclude a deal.

Modern miracles of St. Spyridon

In 2007 she arrived in Moscow miraculous icon St. Spyridon.

People of different incomes and social status lined up in a kilometer-long line to the shrine. They were ready to wait for days for the opportunity to approach the Saint with urgent requests.

No one pushed or tried to move forward. Everyone understood: the living Saint was looking at them from the icon, heard their quiet prayers, knew the needs of those standing at the very end of the block and expected patience and perseverance from them.

If a prayer is not successful, this does not mean that God does not hear it. Perhaps He is waiting for repentance or testing the patience of the one praying.

An Israeli citizen, caught in a terrible debt loop and left with almost no funds, spent her last on a trip to the Saint in Corfu. After praying in Kerkyra and visiting all the shrines of Greece, she returned home. She was constantly being followed angry letters from creditors, but the woman did not stop reading the Akathist to the Saint, believing in his mercy.

Exactly a year after the trip, the bank unexpectedly wrote off almost the entire debt of the Israeli woman on its own initiative. The woman is convinced: St. Spyridon signed her forgiveness with his own hand.

Prayers to the Saint for well-being

Faith - required condition prayer, “according to your faith it will be given to you,” says the Lord in the Gospel.

Akathist

Akathist to Spyridon of Trimifuntsky is included in prayer rule, accompanying requests to the Saint. The name comes from the Greek "not to sit", referring to the position during prayer.

The akathist repeats the word “rejoice” many times, a Christian greeting in ancient times. The text recalls the earthly life of the Saint and his many miracles. By pronouncing these lines, the prayer testifies to faith in what happened many centuries ago.

The Akathist is read in Slavic. It is advisable to first read the detailed Life of the Saint, his history posthumous miracles to understand the words of the prayer. Before the start of the 40-day rule, they take a blessing from the priest.

It happens that a merciful Saint fulfills a request unexpectedly quickly. In this case, you should not cancel your commitment, but continue to read the akathist with a feeling of gratitude.

Akathist to Saint Spyridon of Trimythous

Glorified by the Lord to Saint and miracle worker Spyridon! Now we celebrate your all-honorable memory, as to Him who is able to help us greatly in Christ who glorified you, we cry out to you touchingly: deliver us from all troubles and evils, and let us cry to you with thanksgiving:

Rejoice, Spiridon, wonderful miracle worker!

Seeing the island of Cyprus and all the Christian countries, your incorruptible relics, O saint, abundant healing flows from them, rejoicing; and we, honoring you as an abundant source of grace sent down to us from Above, cry out to the Supreme Giver of Heavenly and earthly blessings: Alleluia.

Having the Divine Mind, even if you are a shepherd of the wordless sheep, you were chosen by the will of the Chief Shepherd Christ to be the shepherd of the verbal sheep. The faithful one, understanding you as a good shepherd, vigilantly caring for your flock, sang:

Rejoice, bishop of the Most High God, who at your consecration abundantly received Divine grace; Rejoice, many-bright lamp, burn and shine.

Rejoice, faithful worker in the city of Christ; Rejoice, shepherd, who raised his flock in the pasture of faith and piety.

Rejoice, enlightening the world with the radiance of your virtues; Rejoice, you who offer the Divine Sacrifice to the Throne of Christ.

Rejoice, hierarch, adorned with the understanding of Orthodoxy; Rejoice, filled with the apostolic teaching, infusing the faithful with streams of saving teaching.

Rejoice, for you have illuminated the wise too; rejoice, for simple hearts updated you.

Rejoice, glory to the Orthodox and to the Church, unshakable affirmation; Rejoice, adornment of the fathers, glory and praise of the reverent priests.

By the power of the Most High, which overshadowed you, you appeared to Saint Spyridon to be God-wise, and, squeezing the clay in your hands, you clearly understood the trinity of Persons to everyone: even so, the false wisdom of the philosophers who gathered at the Council were horrified, but glorified God with the faith of the incomprehensible, who made you wise for salvation, crying out to Him: Alleluia.

Having you in their thoughts, all the fathers of the Council are simple, unskilled in book teaching, praying to you, Father Spyridon, not to quarrel with the ancients, who imagine themselves to be wise. But you, O saint, inflamed with zeal for God, believing that the preaching of Christ is not in the transcendental wisdom of human words, but in the manifestation of the spirit and power, you have exposed him with wisdom, enlightened him and guided him on the true path. All, having seen a miracle this, I cry:

Rejoice, light of Orthodox wisdom; Rejoice, for you have put to shame those who were said to be wise interrogators.

Rejoice, source of abundant grace; Rejoice, unshakable pillar, firmly supporting those who are in the faith.

Rejoice, darkening the all-pernicious heresy; Rejoice, madness has been trampled under foot.

Rejoice, for the dust of the earth has left the Holy Trinity in your hands; Rejoice, for you brought forth fire and water from clay to confirm the dogma of the Holy Trinity.

Rejoice, for you have enlightened people to glorify the Word, truly consubstantial with the Eternal Father; Rejoice, for you have defeated the serpentine head of the destructive Aryan heresies.

Rejoice, for you have sacrificed malice; Rejoice, thou who converted the unfaithful sage and interrogator to the true faith.

Rejoice, Spyridone, wonderful miracle worker.

Living your life in squalor and poverty, you were a nourisher and helper to the poor and poor, and, for the sake of love for the poor, you turned the serpent into gold and gave it to those who needed your help. Marveling at this miracle, we cry out to God in gratitude: Alleluia.

It was heard by everyone and everywhere that Saint Spyridon is truly the dwelling place of the Holy Trinity: for God the Father, God the Word and God the Holy Spirit dwell in him. For this reason, you preached in words and deeds the incarnate true God to all Christians, crying:

Rejoice, the words of God are more mysterious; Rejoice, having understood the economy of God for the salvation of the world.

Rejoice, for you taught us not to test what is beyond human reason and wisdom; Rejoice, you who have revealed the incomprehensible power of God operating in you.

Rejoice, for God Himself has spoken through your lips; Rejoice, for I will listen to you all for sweetness.

Rejoice, you who have dispersed the darkness of idolatry; Rejoice, for you have led many to the true faith.

Rejoice, for you have struck down the heads of the invisible serpents; Rejoice, for through you the Christian faith is glorified.

Rejoice, for you illuminate with light all those who please you; Rejoice, champion of the Christian faith and Orthodoxy.

Rejoice, Spyridone, wonderful miracle worker.

You were filled with the Divine Spirit, Saint Spyridon, for the sake of your virtuous life; You were meek, merciful, pure in heart, patient, unforgettable, a lover of strangers: for this reason the Creator showed you in miracles. We, glorifying God, who glorified you, cry out to Him: Alleluia.

We see the equal angel of Spyridon, the great wonderworker. The country once suffered greatly from lack of rain and drought: there was famine and plague, and many people died, but through the prayers of the saint rain came down from heaven to earth; The people, having been delivered from the disaster, cried out in gratitude:

Rejoice, you have become like the great prophet Elijah; Rejoice, for the rain, which takes away hunger and illness, brought down good times.

Rejoice, having once again closed heaven with your prayers; Rejoice, for you punished the unmerciful merchant with deprivation of his property.

Rejoice, for you have abundantly given food to those who need it; Rejoice, for you strive for the love of God towards people.

Rejoice, take away the infirmities of the weak; Rejoice, God-gracious helper of man.

Rejoice, give health to the sick; Rejoice, for whom the demons tremble.

Rejoice, source of countless miracles.

Rejoice, Spyridone, wonderful miracle worker.

The veil of the Old Testament tabernacle covered the Holy of Holies with the ark, manna and tablets. And your temple, to Saint Spyridon, has your reliquary, like an ark, your holy relics, like manna, your heart, like the tablets of Divine grace, on which we see the song inscribed: Alleluia.

The people of Cyprus were once punished by the Lord with the barrenness of the land for the increase of lawlessness, when a well-known farmer came to Saint Spyridon, asking for help, and gave him holy gold; Having passed the disaster, that farmer returned the gold again, And - about a miracle - the serpent became gold. Glorifying God, who is wonderful in His saints, we cry:

Rejoice, for you imitated Moses, who miraculously transferred the rod into the serpent; Rejoice, O loving shepherd, delivering the verbal sheep of your flock from troubles.

Rejoice, richly enriching everyone with all blessings; Rejoice, as Elijah, who nourished the poor.

Rejoice, turn the unmerciful to mercy; Rejoice, venerable example of love for people living in the world.

Rejoice, consolation for the faithful and the unfaithful in troubles; Rejoice, hay-leaved tree, overshadowing the city and the country.

Rejoice, glory and praise to the Corcyraeans; Rejoice, you have dominion over moisture and dryness, heat and cold, by the grace of God.

Rejoice, changing the rules of the earth through prayer; Rejoice, you who are to come, as if you are the present, you who have foreseen.

Rejoice, Spyridone, wonderful miracle worker.

You appeared as an intercessor before the Lord for everyone, Saint Spyridon. For this reason, we also come running under your roof, seeking salvation, for we are all imams who help you in all your needs, during times of famine, deadly plagues and in all times of troubles and temptations. For this reason, we cry out to God with gratitude: Alleluia.

We see a new miracle and it is magnificent; When you, father, were marching to deliver an innocent man condemned to death, a stormy stream blocked your path; You, in the name of Almighty God, commanded him to stand and you and your companions walked across the river, as if on dry land. The glory of this miracle spread everywhere, and everyone glorified God, crying out to you:

Rejoice, for sometimes Joshua walked across the Jordan river on dry ground; Rejoice, river aspiration taming with your voice.

Rejoice, for you have undertaken a difficult path, driven by mercy; Rejoice, for you have destroyed slander and delivered the innocent from the bonds of prison and vain death.

Rejoice, hastening life according to God; Rejoice, protector of the innocently oppressed.

Rejoice, changer of the statutes of the watery nature; Rejoice, for you taught the judge and saved him from murder.

Rejoice, true correction of souls; Rejoice, wondrous power, holding back the streams.

Rejoice, you who delight the hearts of people who come to you; Rejoice, imitator of Abraham's love for mankind.

Rejoice, Spyridone, wonderful miracle worker.

You were a wanderer and a stranger on earth, like other people. Moreover, from the womb of the mother, the Omniscient One showed you the great saint and wonderworker, Saint Spyridon: you cast out demons, you healed every disease and ulcer, you saw the thoughts of people, and thus you appeared marvelous among the saints. We, sending up prayer to God, the Benefactor of all, cry out to him: Alleluia.

The whole world will tremble with horror when it hears how death, at your voice, returns its dead from their graves, and cry out:

Rejoice, your deceased daughter, may she reveal the treasure entrusted to her, calling to life; Rejoice, sorrowful widow, who gave gold to save her, comforting.

Rejoice, you who raised the dead from the dead; Rejoice, like his mother, who suddenly died of joy, has come to life.

Rejoice, for you have become like Elijah, who restored life to the son of Sarepta’s wife through prayers; Rejoice, for you also imitated Elisha, who aroused the youth from death.

Rejoice, shepherd, who sincerely loves people; Rejoice, harlot wife, who washed your nose with tears, and forgave your sins in the name of God.

Rejoice, you who have acquired the holy zeal of the Supreme Apostle; Rejoice, as an unrepentant sinner, according to your verb, you will die in serious illness.

Rejoice, having obtained fruitfulness from the earth through your prayers; Rejoice, immutable assurance of the resurrection of men.

Rejoice, Spyridone, wonderful miracle worker.

You were illuminated by the Divine Spirit, Saint Spyridon, you had the spirit of wisdom, as you filled the fools with wise words and among the fathers you established the faith, the spirit of reason, as you illuminated the darkened minds; the spirit of the fear of God, because by making you pleasing to God you have purified your soul. Moreover, having presented yourself to the Throne of the Most High, you sing to Him with a host of Angels: Alleluia.

Receiving the rod of shepherding the verbal sheep from the Chief Shepherd, the Lord Jesus, Saint Spyridon do not change your life: non-covetous, meek, endure everything for the sake of love, do not be ashamed to care for the flock of dumb sheep. All this excites us to glorify God and cry out to you:

Rejoice, you who despise the glory of this world as if it were vain; Rejoice, thou who hast gained much in Heaven.

Rejoice, red one of this world, imputed to the minds; Rejoice, vessel of heavenly blessings.

Rejoice, most holy pasture of the Cypriots; Rejoice, for for your sake God is the predator of your sheep with invisible bonds.

Rejoice, having taught fatherly admonition; Rejoice, by your mercy you gave them the night of the ram spent without sleep.

Rejoice, by the disobedience of a goat, as if the mind of a possessor, a merchant who hid his price, denounced; Rejoice, having brought the one who hid your silver coins to repentance.

Rejoice, for with your admonition you healed the passions of greed.

Rejoice, Spyridone, wonderful miracle worker.

Saving the souls of the flock, entrusted to you by God, you, Saint Spyridon, by the will of God, were called to show your glory, especially the glory of the true God, and to other countries, so that everywhere they glorify the name of God, crying out: Alleluia.

A quick helper and intercessor in all needs and sorrows, Saint Spyridon, at the command of the king, like other shepherds, came to the city of Antioch, where King Constantius was overcome by illness; Saint I will touch his head and make him healthy. Marveling at this miracle, we cry out to you:

Rejoice, whose angel in a dream vision appeared to the king like a healer; Rejoice, Divine Ones who, for the sake of love, have accepted the difficult path in old age.

Rejoice, the king's servant, who struck you on the cheek, according to the commandment of the Savior, substituted another; Rejoice, pillar of humility.

Rejoice, having granted health to the Tsar through your prayers; Rejoice, for through your humiliation you taught the servant and changed his unmerciful disposition.

Rejoice, for you taught the king piety and mercy; Rejoice, for you hated earthly treasures, you rejected the king’s gold.

Rejoice, for you turned your disciple Trifillia away from addiction to earthly goods and made him a vessel of God’s grace; Rejoice, for I have come to you in Alexandria with the idols of the fallen.

Rejoice, even demons obey him; Rejoice, for you have turned many away from idolatry.

Rejoice, Spyridone, wonderful miracle worker.

There was an angelic singing when you offered Thy evening prayers to St. Spyridon in the temple, and those who served with you were not mad. The inhabitants of the city, having heard the wondrous singing, entered the temple and, seeing no one, sang with the powers of the Mountains: Alleluia.

The luminous sun of the world, you were the interlocutor of the Angels on earth, Saint Spyridon; Having betrayed your spirit into the hand of God, you moved into a mountain village, praying for peace before the Throne of the Lord. But we who live on earth cry out to you:

Rejoice, for I am still alive, co-servant of the Angel; Rejoice, hearing the psalmody of the Archangels.

Rejoice, visible image of our transfiguration; Rejoice, for if I lacked oil in the temple, God for your sake fill the lamp with abundance.

Rejoice, lamp of Divine radiance; Rejoice, vessel of God's grace, richly like the oil that fills your soul.

Rejoice, inexhaustible source, ever flowing currents of grace to everyone; Rejoice, the Angels are amazed at him.

Rejoice, you who punished the deacon’s disobedience in the temple; Rejoice, you who were vainglorious with your voice and lost your voice and tongue.

Rejoice, for during the heat, dew suddenly descended from above, your sacred head of coolness; Rejoice, in this sign you foresaw the nearness of your repose.

Rejoice, Spyridone, wonderful miracle worker.

The cover and refuge of all the faithful who came to you even in your life, you, O saint, did not leave us orphans even after your dormition; God, conqueror of the order of nature, keep your holy relics incorruptible to strengthen the Orthodox faith and piety, as a sign of immortality, glorifying Him, we cry: Alleluia.

We sing praises to you, O saint of God, for you have surprised the world with miracles flowing from your holy relics. All who come with faith and kiss them receive all the good things they ask for. And we, who gave you strength, who crowned you with the crown of incorruption and who through you glorifies God, cry out to you:

Rejoice, you who appeared as a shipbuilder during a famine and ordered food to be delivered; Rejoice, you who have given sight to the blind, who have flown with faith to your holy relics.

Rejoice, you who healed the youth from the incurable illness; Rejoice, you who cast out the demon from your wife and created good health.

Rejoice, chosen governor of Kerkyra; Rejoice, for you drove out the hordes of the evil Hagarians and sank their ships into the abyss.

Rejoice, for you saw him surrounded by a host of Angels, holding a sword in his right hand and causing his enemies to tremble; Rejoice, build yourself a temple in which to celebrate the Liturgy on unleavened bread, forbidden by the governor.

Rejoice, having struck down the Latin governor with cruel death; Rejoice, you who burned his image in a house in Venice with lightning.

Rejoice, you who have put to shame the apostasy and false wisdom of the West; Rejoice, having established the one Orthodox faith to be true and saving for people.

Rejoice, Spiridon, wonderful miracle worker!

Canon

The Canon to Saint Spyridon is performed at a service, but it is permissible to read it at home.

The canon is shorter than the Akathist and has a more pleading mood. Reading is prefaced short prayer to the Lord, with a “common beginning”, pointing to the Only Giver of what is asked - God.

O Great and wonderful saint of Christ and wonderworker Spyridon, Kerkyra praise, bright luminary of the whole universe, warm prayer book to God and quick intercessor to all who come running to you and pray with faith! You gloriously expounded the Orthodox faith at the Nicene Council among the Fathers, you showed the unity of the Holy Trinity with miraculous power, and you completely put the heretics to shame. Hear us sinners, the saint of Christ, praying to you, and through your strong intercession with the Lord, deliver us from every evil situation: from famine, flood, fire and deadly plagues. For in your temporal life you delivered your people from all these disasters: you saved your country from the invasion of the Hagarians and from famine, you delivered the king from an incurable illness and brought many sinners to repentance, you gloriously raised the dead, and for the holiness of your life the angels invisibly in the church you had those singing and serving with you. Sitsa, therefore, glorify you, His faithful servant, Lord Christ, for you are given the gift of understanding all the secret human deeds and convicting those who live unrighteously. You zealously helped many living in poverty and lack, you nourished the poor people abundantly during famine, and you created many other signs by the power of the living Spirit of God in you. Do not forsake us either, Saint of Christ, remember us, your children, at the Throne of the Almighty and beg the Lord to grant forgiveness for many of our sins, grant us a comfortable and peaceful life, and grant us a shameless and peaceful death and eternal bliss in the future. to us, may we always send glory and thanksgiving to the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

At the end of the prayer service, the prayer to the Saint, placed at the end of the Akathist, is added.

Shrines from the shrine of St. Spyridon - gracious help in prayer

To the residents and pilgrims of Fr. Corfu knows the miracle that occurs every year, visible when replacing the velvet shoes on the Saint’s feet: they turn out to be completely worn out. Everyone knows: the Bishop walks the earth helping those in need.

A Greek nun sews new shoes every six months, and the old ones are cut into many pieces and distributed free of charge to Orthodox Christians. Such gifts from the Saint are called “filahto” (shrine, amulet - Greek).

At special requests, to large monasteries or royal pilgrims, a whole shoe of the Saint was given as a gift. One of these gifts is kept in the Danilov Monastery in Moscow.

The filahto is placed in a small bag or glued to the icon of the Saint and is always carried with you.

Filakhto is not a magical amulet, but a reminder to the owner of the shrine of the duty to always pray to the Patron Saint before starting financial or property matters, a testament to his love and veneration of the Saint.

People who have received the Saint’s blessings readily tell how, after prayer, money problems were solved in an unknown way, profitable buyers for property appeared, and donors for upcoming operations appeared.

Indifferent officials suddenly showed interest in the applicant’s problem, banks wrote off debts, and wallets lost on crowded streets were returned to their owners with their contents intact.

Problems were solved in a seemingly ordinary way, but there was always an element of “mysticism” - evidence of God’s miracle.

The gifts received from God must be preserved and multiplied. Prayer of gratitude, donations to the needy, good deeds - a debt returned to the Saint according to his “loans”.
