Fitness for service is determined by the state of health of the conscript, for the assessment of which special criteria are used - categories A, B, C, D, D. Young people who have been assigned fitness category A or B are drafted into the army. Most conscripts are in category B. It includes four modifications 1-4, which indicate the existing disease and in which military units the young man can serve.

How is suitability determined?

Having received a summons from a draft board employee, the citizen is obliged to come to the military registration and enlistment office for a military medical examination. Without this, it is impossible to register for military training and go to serve in the army. Doctors identify the presence of diseases, and based on the results of the examination, assign a certain fitness category.

Several medical specialists examine conscripts:

  • surgeon;
  • neurologist;
  • ophthalmologist;
  • psychiatrist;
  • otorhinolaryngologist;
  • dentist;
  • therapist.

Specialists will only examine the health status of the conscript. They do not make a diagnosis, do not prescribe treatment or conduct examinations that require special equipment, but only state the presence of any pathology or complete health. Therefore, you should prepare yourself in advance: establish a diagnosis with the help of your attending physician, undergo the necessary course of treatment, and conduct a series of medical examinations. This is the case if there is a disease that may prevent military service.

The decision of the medical commission is based on an examination of the conscripts and the study of the documents they submitted from the hospital:

  • outpatient card or extract;
  • test results;
  • fluorographic image;
  • ECG image and interpretation;
  • other medical statements with the results of treatment, examination, and diagnosis.

All documents must be certified by a doctor and the seal of the medical institution.

After the inspection, each specialist makes a conclusion and sets his/her suitability category. The chief physician of the medical commission makes a decision based on the most severe disease detected by doctors. So, if one of the six members of the commission assigned category B, and the rest B, then the chief physician will approve B. Next, the question is sent for discussion to the draft commission. Here the final decision is made, the result of which is recorded in the journal of the draft commission meetings.

Sometimes the diagnosis made by the attending physician is not confirmed by the military medical commission, despite the positive results of the examinations. In such cases, it is better to seek help from lawyers - it will be difficult, and sometimes impossible, to defend your rights on your own.

Main categories

By decision of the military medical commission, the citizen is assigned a fitness category, which is established in accordance with the Schedule of Diseases. Based on this document, it is presumably possible to determine in which troops the young man will serve and whether he will be sent to serve if he has an illness or will be released from the army for a certain period.

Indicators of suitability for service are designated by letters, their decoding is as follows:

1. A – completely healthy, can serve in any army. Absolutely fit for duty.

2. B – there are some restrictions regarding the choice of type of military. Quite fit for service.

3. B - a military ID is issued, after a commission they are sent to the reserve. It is considered, i.e. During a period of peace, a citizen is not called up for service; he is subject to conscription during a period of war.

4. G – given for the period of hospitalization. After the allotted period (six months, a year), the citizen again undergoes a medical examination and, upon full recovery, is sent to the army. If there is no improvement in health, then, depending on the decision of the draft commission, he is given a second deferment or issued a military ID.

5. D – a military ID is issued, the citizen is finally deregistered at the military registration and enlistment office. He is considered completely, he is not called up even during the war period.

An additional examination is carried out if the military medical commission questions the reliability of the presented diagnosis. Information about the state of health reflected in medical documents (indicators from tests, survey data) may also raise doubts. A repeated examination is carried out to clarify the existing diagnosis.

Repeated diagnostics should be carried out free of charge. If you require payment for doctors' services, you must file a complaint with the main military commissariat of a constituent entity of the Russian Federation or the prosecutor's office.

What does category B mean?

Minor health problems are observed in many young people, while most diseases do not interfere with service. Only the chances of being drafted into a certain branch of the military are limited. Thus, the assignment of B-3 and 4 will become an obstacle to enlistment in the Marine Corps or in the airborne forces, where excellent physical shape is required.

The number following the letter B indicates the type of army, unit, subdivision where a particular conscript can serve due to health reasons. This is a kind of indicator of purpose. Suitability B has four gradations. The higher the number, the more restrictions in choosing a place of service. Restrictions mainly relate to the intensity of physical training.

Categories B-1 and B-2

These two modifications include minor health problems in the form of some chronic diseases, provided that they have not worsened for several years. These deviations do not lead to systemic dysfunctions and do not prevent full service in the army.

Assignment to the B-1 makes it possible to serve in such troops as:

  • Marines;
  • Airborne or Airborne Forces units;
  • special forces units;
  • border troops.

B-2 provides minor restrictions, but the choice may well please the conscript. These are troops such as:

  • underwater and surface marine fleet;
  • tank forces;
  • You can also drive and control self-propelled guns and engineering vehicles.

Indicators of purpose 1 and 2 indicate good physical data and suitable parameters in terms of anthropometry. More details about the indicators can be found in the Disease Schedule. Here you can find out about the health requirements from the corresponding plate.

Category B3

This modification combines greatest number pathologies shown in the Schedule. This includes minor dysfunctions of individual organs and systems, as well as previously cured diseases and residual manifestations of diseases, injuries, and fractures. Intense physical activity is contraindicated for conscripts of this group, so they do not serve in all troops.

  • chemical troops, fuel and lubricants units;
  • on anti-aircraft missile systems, management and maintenance;
  • internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs;
  • to the crew of an armored personnel carrier or infantry fighting vehicle;
  • missile units - control of launchers.

Conscripts included in this group are required to General requirements health is lower than those who were assigned A or B1, 2.

Category B3: physical data

In addition, an important indicator for conscripts is the absence of even a slight impairment in color vision. The recruit must clearly distinguish colors.

Category B4

A citizen can serve in those military units and units that require security and defense, for example, at missile systems. Service in radio engineering units is possible.

Category B4: health indicators

The color vision requirements remain the same as in the previous category. Colorblindness is main reason, why don’t they take you into the army?

Changing the fitness category

Often, in pursuit of meeting set standards, military registration and enlistment office employees may assign categories B-3 or B-4 instead of the required non-conscription category. This can happen if the diagnosis of the disease is borderline, at the limit of error of research instruments or analysis of results.

This problem can be solved in several ways.

Additional examination. They resort to it if a health examination certificate has not been issued. It is necessary to request a referral for re-examination. In this case, you should pay attention to the list of examinations, because it may be intentionally incomplete. Lack of information about the disease can lead to an incorrect diagnosis, which in turn will affect the assignment in favor of the draft board. You need to know what research needs to be done to establish the correct conclusion. In addition, it is worth paying attention to the doctor’s entry in the card and the report form.
Appealing the category to a higher draft commission. An appeal should be sent to a higher authority after additional examination has not brought the desired result. An application is written for an in-person control medical examination (CMC).
Going to court. If the decision of the KMO is also unsatisfactory, then contacting an independent body may help the matter. To do this, you need to have a good understanding of the provisions of the federal law “On Military Duty and military service", know the provisions of the Schedule of Diseases, and also navigate Russian legislation. But it is best to seek help from a lawyer.

Fitness category B means that the conscript is limitedly fit for military service, i.e. exempt from military service due to health reasons Peaceful time, but can be drafted during the war and only to the rear units. Most conscripts who received a military ID for health reasons have fitness category B. In a citizen’s military ID Russian Federation only the fitness category is given without indicating the diagnosis for which the conscript was released from the army. Below we will tell you more about who receives it.

How is fitness for service determined?

Fitness for service is determined based on the results of a medical examination and additional examination. When making a decision on assigning a fitness category, doctors at the military registration and enlistment office are also guided by the certificates, extracts and any other medical documents submitted by the conscript that confirm the presence of health problems. Also, before passing a medical examination at the military registration and enlistment office, you need to take blood and urine tests, undergo fluorography and an ECG. Without the results of these studies, making a decision on the suitability category will be considered illegal.

  • A - fit for military service.
  • B - fit for service with minor restrictions.
  • B - limited fit for military service.
  • G - temporarily unfit.
  • D - not fit for duty military service.

Fitness category B - limited fit for military service

Fitness category B means that the conscript has a disease with which he is not accepted into the army. By decision of the draft commission of such young man exempted from military service, enlisted in the reserves and the military registration and enlistment office is obliged to issue him a military ID. After receiving a military ID, you do not need to undergo re-examination to confirm the diagnosis. However, if fitness category B was assigned during the initial military registration, then after the 18th birthday the young man will have to go through conscription events again and confirm this category, since the state of health may change. Sometimes conscripts confuse how “limitedly fit for military service” differs from “fit for military service with minor restrictions.” Those fit with minor restrictions are assigned category B, which means the conscript has minor health problems, but will still serve in the army with a restriction on the choice of troops.

Category of fitness for military service B is assigned to a conscript only if he has proven that his state of health is the basis for exemption from service, and conscription activities were carried out without violations.

How to get fitness category B

  • Prepare for a medical examination at the military registration and enlistment office: collect medical documents confirming the diagnosis.
  • Pass a medical examination. Tell the doctors at the military registration and enlistment office about your complaints and confirm them with medical documents.
  • Receive a referral for additional examination according to the act from the military registration and enlistment office.
  • Complete all prescribed examinations to confirm the non-conscription diagnosis.
  • At a meeting of the draft commission, you will receive a fitness category corresponding to your diagnosis.
  • If the draft commission makes an illegal decision, appeal it in court.

Is it necessary to undergo re-examination?

We are often asked the question whether it is necessary to confirm category B after being released from military service due to health reasons and enlisted in the reserves. After enlisting in the reserves and receiving a military ID, you do not need to undergo a medical examination again and confirm your fitness category at the military registration and enlistment office. Conscripts with fitness category B are not accepted into the army even if they manage to cure their illness. Previously, the law provided for the obligation to undergo a medical re-examination procedure every three years, but Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 886 abolished this provision. Currently, the issuance of a military ID for health reasons is final; re-confirmation of the diagnosis is not required. There is only one possibility to end up with fitness category B in the army: to be cured, by at will undergo re-examination and enter contract service in the desired branch of the military.

Diseases for which category B is required

The Disease Schedule articles contain full list diseases for which conscripts have the right to be released from the army under fitness category B. How will a military ID with category B be reflected at work?

For most conscripts, category B will not be included in the military ID decisive role when applying for a job. The employer will be interested in the very fact of having a military ID, confirming that the applicant is enlisted in the reserves of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and is not subject to conscription. Therefore, the employer can safely hire such an employee, invest in his training and not be afraid that he will be called up for military service at any time. Difficulties with getting a job will only arise for those who plan to get a job in the police, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the FSB and other structures where it is necessary to pass a military medical and medical flight commission.

To determine the ability of a young man to serve in the Russian Armed Forces in general and in particular to serve in certain branches and types of troops, categories of suitability of conscripts for military service were established and legally enshrined. The fitness category of an individual young person is determined when passing a medical commission in accordance with the Schedule of Diseases. The category of fitness awarded and the article under which the conscript is examined will determine whether he is fit for military service or will be exempt from military service.

Fitness category A

The conscript is fit for military service, there are no health problems,
subject to conscription without limitation by branch of service.

  • A1 Passable without restrictions, has no deviations in health or pathologies. He had no serious illnesses.
  • A2 Passable with restrictions on load with subsequent selection, seriously ill, suffered a serious injury (fracture or concussion). Does not interfere with service in special or special forces.
  • A3 Suitable with restrictions on load with subsequent selection, designation indicator 3 means that minor difficulties with vision are detected (for example, myopia of less than 2 diopters).
  • A4 Passable with restrictions on load with subsequent selection, destination indicator 4 means that minor difficulties with the foot have been detected (for example, flat feet of the 1st degree).

Fitness category B

A conscript with category B is fit for military service with minor restrictions.
This category is assigned to conscripts who have diseases that do not qualify them for exemption from military service. The stronger the disease, the lower the group in the category, and any kind of existing disease must meet the criteria in the military medical schedule of diseases and not go beyond the non-combatant types of diseases; unfit for combat duty.

  • B1 Special forces units, marines, airborne, air assault military units, border troops of the Federal Border Service of the Russian Federation.
  • B2 Submarines, surface ships; drivers and crew members of tanks, self-propelled artillery units, engineering vehicles based on tanks and tractors.
  • B3 Drivers and crew members of infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers and launchers missile units; other units of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, guard units; chemical parts, fuel refueling and storage specialists; anti-aircraft missile units.
  • B4 Special structures, military security and defense specialists missile systems; communication parts, radio engineering parts; the rest of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, other troops, military formations and organs.

When distributing conscripts into units for further service, fitness categories, especially B1-B4, are very often not taken into account. The fighters are distributed according to the principle of personnel shortage.

Fitness category B

A conscript is limitedly fit for military service, is exempt from conscription, is enlisted in the reserves and receives a military ID. In wartime, those with category B are subject to conscription to staff the rear units of the 1st and 2nd lines (based on the RA reserve military registration group). They are also subject to conscription for military training. At military training camps, or in a voluntary sequence, a citizen can undergo re-examination and be sent to the Military Military Commission. If your health status changes, your fitness category may also change.

A number of conscripts have symptoms of diseases corresponding to category B. To determine the presence or absence of such a disease, it is necessary to undergo an independent medical examination. The diagnosis must be detailed, with detailed description the degree of dysfunction, which is the basis for write-off. For a number of diseases, the duration of observation in a medical organization, the frequency of treatment for this diagnosis, and the availability of inpatient treatment play an important role.

Nuance: Until 2005, conscripts with category B were required to undergo re-examination every 3 years. Since 01/01/2005, mandatory re-examination has been canceled (based on the RF Regulation No. 886 of 12/31/2004)

Suitability category G

The conscript is temporarily unfit for military service.
A deferment for health reasons from conscription into the army is given for a period of 6 months to 1 year, after which a repeated medical examination is carried out at the military registration and enlistment office. At the repeated military medical commission, the fitness category is again determined, in accordance with which a new decision is made.

Category G is assigned to a conscript if there are deviations in health, underweight, after surgery or injury. A deferment from conscription in accordance with category G can be given for a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of a year.

One of the violations committed by military registration and enlistment office employees is the incorrect examination of a conscript and the incorrect assignment of category G instead of category B in cases where there is a corresponding disease that is documented. In this case, it is necessary to appeal the decision of the draft commission to a higher draft commission or to court.

Fitness category D

The conscript is not fit for military service. This category exempts from conscription and from military service in general, and the Russian army does not threaten such citizens. Conscripts with this category are issued a military ID, which indicates absolute unfitness. In addition, a corresponding stamp is placed in the passport. The conscript is removed from the military register and is not subject to conscription into the army under any circumstances, even during war.

Fitness category in the military ID

The conscript's fitness category for military service is indicated on the military ID in a special column. If a conscript is exempt from conscription for health reasons, for example, hypertension, only category B or D will be indicated on the military ID, but without indicating the specific disease for which the conscript was exempt from conscription. The fitness category on a military ID can be challenged in court if the health status of the person liable for military service has changed in better side. However, military commissars do not always meet such people halfway, because a situation may arise when a conscript received category B, was exempt from conscription, and after 27 years decided to get a job in the law enforcement agencies, where work requires almost perfect health, and wants to receive category A1.

The situation has changed due to innovations in the “Regulations on military medical examination”. Now a repeated medical examination of a citizen is provided in connection with a change in his health status, which previously had category B - limited fitness. In cases successful completion re-medical examination, a mark is made on the military ID, where a new category of fitness for military service is set, A-fit, or B-fit with minor restrictions. Thus, restrictions can be partially lifted when recruiting for service in the law enforcement agencies and departments listed above. But this does not mean at all that the military medical commissions of the departments will not request data from the military registration and enlistment offices for what reason this or that citizen was exempted from military service upon conscription. The requested data will also be taken into account when making a decision on the issue of declaring a candidate fit or not fit for service in a particular law enforcement agency.

There are also a number of myths about the ban on obtaining a driver's license. However, most often only serious diseases of the musculoskeletal system, sensory organs, and mental illnesses prevent one from obtaining a driver’s license; for example, cardiac pathologies are rarely taken into account by the medical commission when determining the possibility of obtaining a driver’s license. However, some diseases may not prevent you from obtaining a driver's license in general, but from obtaining a driver's license with a separate category or the right to practice professional activity in this area.

Military service is associated not only with the defense of the homeland, but also with increased physical activity, which is why certain requirements have been established for the health of military personnel.

After all, defenders of the fatherland must not only shoot accurately, but also move quickly, and also master techniques hand-to-hand combat, which presupposes both sufficient preparation and good health.

However, in view of the fact that military service involves many varieties of military professions, a scale of suitability for service has been developed at the legislative level in order to attract citizens to defend their homeland due to their physical capabilities.

What it is

In accordance with the law, every citizen of the Russian Federation, and foreign citizens too, have the right to enroll in military service. At the same time, taking into account that there are quite a lot of military professions, as well as branches of the military, and the applicants have different levels physical fitness and health status system developed, which implies determining the state of readiness of the future soldier to perform duties.

That is, in essence, suitability category are a scale that determines the readiness and ability of an individual for military service, taking into account his state of health, existing knowledge and level of physical fitness. For example, the category of limited fitness includes applicants who, due to health conditions, cannot be drafted into the army in peacetime, but in case of an emergency they can be called upon to serve in a civilian specialty.

Classification

According to the standards defined in Part 2 of Article 5.1 of Federal Law No. 53, the following fitness categories for military service:

Indicators of purpose

At the same time, in accordance with paragraph 4 of Government Decree No. 565, assignments have also been developed for each category, assigned after examination in accordance with the approved ones and which are taken into account when sending conscripts to certain types of troops or when appointing them to a particular position.

In particular, the stipulated Resolution No. 565 contains a list of major diseases, covering diseases of internal organs, problems with the musculoskeletal system, and psychological level perception of reality, not to mention the presence of viral infections or genetic abnormalities.

Also within the specified norm the scale of the main physical indicators in terms of requirements for service in certain troops. In particular, weight and height are indicated, as well as permissible deviations in hearing and vision, not to mention previous injuries and diseases that may affect the future soldier’s ability to perform certain functions already during the performance of his immediate duties.

Category A

Moreover, in most cases, upon receiving the specified category, future military personnel can quite deservedly count on serving in elite troops, such as the landing force and the marine corps.

At the same time, considering that ideal healthy people in principle does not happen, this class is still divided into four subgroups, which make it possible to determine the ability of future soldiers to serve in various troops.

In particular, A1 is the highest score, which is assigned not only for health reasons, but also for external indicators, such as height and weight, given that height is as important for paratroopers as vision for tankers. For example, to qualify for the airborne troops, the height of the applicant must be no lower than 170 cm and no higher than 185 cm, while the weight must be within 90 kg, and not classified as obesity of the 2nd degree. Also, the future paratrooper must be able to distinguish whispered speech within 6 meters, and therefore have perfect hearing.

Second degree assigned if the future soldier is ideally healthy at the time of examination, but in accordance with medical documents, he previously suffered a serious illness or broken bones, but without further deterioration in his general health and contraindications to engaging in certain activities. With A2, the conscript can be involved in tank or missile forces, and also serve on submarines, of course, subject to the weight and height indicators described above.

Upon receipt third degree This implies some deviations in the state of health, in particular in vision, which does not require special adjustments and treatment, which is inherent when the visual field is limited to 20 degrees. Conscripts classified in this category can be drafted into the internal troops, as well as serve in the chemical or missile forces.

AND fourth degree assigned for vision problems exceeding 20 degrees, but provided that other indicators of the soldier’s physical condition are normal, not to mention standard weight and height. At the same time, A4 implies that the conscript can be involved in any other troops, except those mentioned above, without any restrictions.

B

Category B is assigned if a conscript or serviceman has certain deviations in physical health, as a result of which the occupation of certain positions is contraindicated or not permissible.

And given that almost all conscripts have health problems to one degree or another, the majority of employees end up in category B, distributed according to their assignment indicators.

So in particular, B1 assigned if a military personnel suffers from an allergy or other mild disease that is not characterized by a persistent loss of physical skills to perform certain actions. Therefore, employees classified as B1 can be enlisted in both assault brigades and border troops.

Category B2 also assumes minor deviations in the general state of health and does not lead to significant restrictions, because with a small percentage of vision loss, a future soldier can quite successfully be recognized in both the surface fleet and the tank team, not to mention national guard or engineering troops.

B3 already imposes some restrictions, which are expressed to the same extent allergic reaction, loss of vision or hearing, not to mention excess weight or previous injuries. If the specified category is established, the conscript will not be able to become a paratrooper or submariner, but he will be gladly enlisted in radio operators or escort brigades, as well as in the chemical or engineering troops.

B4, in fact, is practically the last chance to be drafted into the army, given that when the specified category is established, significant deviations in the general physical condition of conscripts are observed. Thus, in particular, employees may be left with the consequences of previous injuries, poor vision or hearing, as well as excess weight or small in stature. IN similar situation a conscript, as a rule, serves in the security units of radio installations, in the communications and radio engineering troops, or in units specializing in special structures.

IN

Category B is assigned if the future soldier has a permanent loss of health that prevents him from serving at full capacity precisely in army conditions, which imply readiness to serve almost around the clock, not to mention physical exertion.

As a rule, in the presence of such deviations, they are not involved in military service, but are sent to the reserve with the condition that during military operations the citizen will be called upon to perform his duty along with all other employees in accordance with military specialty, which is assigned based on education or skills at the time of examination.

That is, in fact, in peacetime, a conscript can repay his debt to his homeland by serving in the same hospital as an orderly or as a volunteer among the elderly, not to mention working in a factory producing parts or other things necessary in everyday life. In wartime, a soldier with a similar fitness category may be called up to work in military factories.

G

Category G is assigned to a conscript by a medical commission if the future soldier at the time of the examination suffered a serious injury or illness and, accordingly, to restore health he needs a certain time, by means of a delay, for example, for six months.

That is, in essence, the agreed group is an interim decision, which, after the conscript’s recovery, will be changed to A, B or C, depending on the results of treatment and prognoses of future capacity.

D

This category assumes that a citizen unfit for military service under any circumstances and at any time, regardless of further treatment, emergency situations or other circumstances.

After all, for example, being disabled due to a mental disorder, a citizen is unlikely to ever be aware of the consequences of his actions or the need to use certain strategic steps.

Procedure for challenging

Despite the fact that the prerogative in determining the fitness category is assigned to the medical commissions, conscripts also have the right, in particular, to appeal the decision in case of disagreement.

After all, receiving category D, for example, reflects not only the state of health, but in some cases can become an obstacle to employment in a prestigious job, given that employers rarely think about what illness caused the refusal to enlist.

That is why a person who does not agree with the decision of the commission is given the right to receive an examination report and a referral to re-pass the medical commission based on the submitted application.

The following video describes the classification of conscripts’ fitness for health reasons:

To serve in the military - honorable duty every Russian citizen. However, the specifics of the activities of conscript and contract servicemen require not only an honorary status, but also quite serious workloads. In particular, fighters Russian army engage in physical training, master hand-to-hand combat skills and other intricacies. That's why getting into the ranks armed forces maybe not every conscript. Before starting service, young people undergo a medical commission, which determines the health group of the conscript. Based on this conclusion, it becomes clear whether the guy can serve in principle, and if so, in which military units and units.

What it is

Current legislation allows the conscription of Russian and foreign citizens for fixed-term and contract service. However, the armed forces of the Russian Federation include several branches of the military, where military personnel of various military specialties serve. It is quite natural that the place of further service of a conscript directly depends on his physical condition.

To determine professional suitability, a pre-selection system was developed that determines the conscript’s health group. These categories are determined by a medical examination, which determines whether the future defender of the Motherland is fit for military service. In exceptional situations, conscripts are considered to be of limited fitness: they are transferred to the reserves and called up only during large-scale military operations.

How does classification work?

Selection standards are defined by law and are discussed in detail in the provisions of Federal Law No. -FZ. Part 2 of Art. 5.1 of this document, the draft commission of district and regional military commissariats classifies conscripts into 5 health groups:

  1. Category A - fit for military service;
  2. Category B - suitable, but there are a number of restrictions on physical indicators;
  3. Category B - limited suitability, conscription is possible, but under certain conditions;
  4. Category G - temporarily unfit to perform military duties;
  5. Category D - not subject to conscription under any circumstances.

Selection criteria

Government Decree No. establishes the basic health criteria that allow for conscription or impose a ban on military service. Medical indicators are indicated here, which are necessarily taken into account when sending conscripts to a certain branch of the military.

Indicators of purpose for serving are divided as follows:

  1. Height and weight;
  2. Health status of the hearing and visual apparatus;
  3. Previous injuries;
  4. Presence of chronic diseases;
  5. General physical condition.

Let's try to explain why this is needed. For example, a physically weak conscript cannot enlist in the troops of the Russian Guard or the Airborne Forces. The military personnel of these units and formations undergo quite serious training, which a physically weak fighter simply cannot cope with.

In particular, indicators of purpose help determine the predisposition of a future soldier to perform certain duties of military service. Download for viewing and printing:

Specifics of each health group

It was noted above that there are 5 such categories, and they determine the suitability or unsuitability of a conscript for military service. However, within some groups there is also a division into so-called health subcategories. Let's see how this is applied in reality.

Health group "A"

If we evaluate human health on a 10-point scale, then this category can be characterized as a solid “ten”. Conscripts with fitness category “A” are usually called up to serve in elite units of the Russian army. However, even excellent health varies, so within this group there is its own division according to the degree of professional suitability.

There are 4 subcategories here:

  1. A1 - excellent health and excellent physical condition. In particular, the height and weight of the conscript are taken into account here. For example, the height of candidates for service in the Airborne Forces must fit within the framework of 170-185 centimeters. Therefore, such a health group is assigned only to conscripts who are ideal according to all criteria;
  2. A2 - excellent health, but only at the time of passing the medical examination. For example, if in medical card indicates a previous serious illness or complex fracture, this group will be assigned. Such guys can be drafted into tank or missile forces;
  3. A3 - minor health problems have been identified. In most cases, this group is assigned to people with myopia that does not require serious correction or surgical intervention. Such conscripts join the ranks of internal and border troops and can become “chemists” or rocket scientists;
  4. A4 - significant vision problems were identified, but within acceptable limits. Such conscripts cannot serve in the units listed above, but otherwise are called up for service without restrictions.

Health group “B”

The health status of these conscripts is not ideal, but existing deviations do not prevent them from performing their official duties, albeit with some restrictions. An internal division into 4 subgroups is also used here:

  1. B1 - there are mild diseases, for example, allergies. In general, there is an illness, but the diagnosed pathology does not have a significant impact on physical condition;
  2. B2 - these are more persistent physical disorders, but allow the conscript to undergo military service;
  3. B3 - excess weight, partial loss of hearing or vision are possible here;
  4. B4 - significant deviations in physical condition, but within acceptable standards. Such conscripts usually serve in security units and communications troops.

Health group “B”

Conscripts of this category are unsuitable for military service in army units and formations, however, this restriction applies only in peacetime. In particular, if war comes, such citizens will be drafted into the armed forces.

Please note that such a call does not imply service in the ranks of the active army. With health group “B” you can perform duties in logistics services or defense industry enterprises. Please note that the place of service is determined taking into account the education received and specialized skills.

Health group "G"

Let us immediately note that this is not a category of health in literally this word. This group is assigned if, at the time of passing the medical examination, the conscript becomes seriously ill or seriously injured. These troubles require rehabilitation, which does not allow a person to be drafted into the army.

However, after recovery, the conscript undergoes a medical examination again and is assigned one of the health categories.

Health group “D”

Conscripts in this category are not subject to conscription for military service in times of peace and war. Here persistent physical or mental disorders interfering with the performance of service and combat duties.

Acceptable health groups for contract workers

In general, general selection criteria apply here, as for soldiers conscript service. Moreover, many military personnel sign a contract at the time of their conscription service. In particular, you can become a contract soldier only with assigned health groups “A” and “B”. Let us note that in order to serve in the elite units of the Russian army, a future contract soldier must meet the selection criteria for group “A”.

How to find out your health category

To do this, just open your military ID. There is a special column indicating the degree of suitability for military service. It should be noted that the disease on the basis of which the health group was assigned is not indicated here.

Is it possible to challenge a health group?

When undergoing a medical examination, sometimes there are medical errors. For example, instead of category “B”, a conscript is assigned group “C”. Some guys may be happy about this mistake: in peacetime they are not called up for service, and war is not expected in the near future.

However, problems may arise when employing a failed defender of the fatherland. In particular, when applying for a job, they usually ask for a military ID, and the personnel manager invariably asks a question about the applicant’s health status.

If a conscript does not agree with the conclusion of the medical commission, he can undergo a re-examination by writing a corresponding statement.

What you need to know about passing the medical examination

The conscript is invited by summons to undergo a medical examination. Passes a medical examination at the military registration and enlistment office at the place of residence. During the medical examination, specialized specialists examine the conscript, check his physical condition, study certificates and extracts from the district clinic.

As part of the examination, you must undergo:

  1. Surgeon;
  2. Neurologist;
  3. Psychiatrist;
  4. Ophthalmologist;
  5. Otolaryngologist;
  6. Dentist;
  7. Therapist.
It is important to understand that the doctors of the draft commission do not diagnose, prescribe treatment or issue a referral to a hospital.

Is it possible to change the health group?

The law allows for this possibility. The procedure is carried out on an application basis; you need to contact the military commissariat at your place of residence. The basis for re-examination may be an improvement in health status.

In this case, the draft commission meets again, and the citizen goes through all the doctors again. Upon completion of the survey, a decision is made: assign new group health or leave the same.

Please note that the military registration and enlistment office cannot refuse to undergo a second medical examination. If this happens, you can safely go to court.

How to change category from "B" to "A"

We mentioned above that health group “A” is the standard for conscripts, and opens the way for service in the elite units of the Russian army. However, this category assumes almost ideal health and physical condition of the body.

It follows that compelling reasons are needed to initiate a repeat medical examination. Therefore, before contacting the military registration and enlistment office. It makes sense to go to the doctors at the district clinic, and if they do not find any abnormalities, you can insist on re-examination. If the examination results are confirmed, the medical commission will change the conscript’s health group.

How to change category from “B” to “C”

The principle of operation is similar to the previous one. The conscript goes to the district clinic, where he receives an extract confirming the presence of a serious illness. With the received certificate, the citizen applies to the military registration and enlistment office, where he undergoes a second medical examination. If the diagnosis is confirmed, the health group is changed to non-conscription.

Please note that the change in health group applies only to citizens of military age: 17-27 years old. In addition, to initiate a repeat medical examination, compelling reasons are needed, in particular, an improvement or deterioration in health.

Release from service

This is possible if you have the following diseases:

This group indicates that the conscript has some health problems, but in general, he is found fit for military service. It is quite natural that a number of specialties and branches of the military will be closed.

It is important to understand here that the assigned group does not provide a reason for deferment or exemption from conscription.

What awaits conscripts with Group B health?

This health group indicates that such a conscript will not be called up for service in peacetime. Litera reports that a citizen has been diagnosed with serious illness, which imposes a number of restrictions on service. However, in the event of war, such citizens are sent to serve, even if not in regular units.
