We all know that installing mods on new versions of Minecraft 1.9/1.8.8/1.7.10 is different from installing mods on older versions. The new launcher has changed the instructions for installing mods on Minecraft. Many people experience discomfort when installing mods, and some have no idea how to do it. But these instructions will help you!

You will need:

  • Minecraft 1.8.4 (or another version, preferably newer)
  • Minecraft Forge that matches the version of your Minecraft client
  • Risugami Modloader (optional, for easy installation of mods)
  • WinRAR (for working with files such as JAR/ZIP/RAR)

The note: This instruction is suitable for Minecraft version 1.6.4, as well as for Minecraft versions 1.9, 1.8.8 and 1.7.10.

Instructions for installing Forge mods:

Most mods require Minecraft Forge to be installed.

Download latest version Minecraft Forge. Launch the installer and click . Complete the installation of Minecraft Forge.

Now you need to launch your Minecraft launcher and select “Forge” in your profile on the right. Enter your username and password and click . After a short download of files you will be taken to Minecraft. Close the game after this procedure.

Go to "Start", then find the "Run" command, enter "%appdata%/.minecraft" there and press Enter. You will see a folder called "Mods", open it. Move the archive with the mod here .zip permission. Don't remove it!

Now, launch Minecraft again using the same "Forge" profile. By clicking on the button you will see everything installed mods to your Minecraft client.

Instructions for installing regular mods:

Installing the so-called Vanilla mods is a little more complicated, but still simple.

Download any "vanilla" mod that will work on your version of Minecraft. For example, I downloaded the X-Ray mod.

You should now open your installed Minecraft.

Go to Start > Run > enter "%appdata%/.minecraft/versions" > press Enter.

We don't have permission to go directly to the 1.6.4 folder and put files in the 1.6.4.jar because the new launcher prevents us from doing that. Therefore, we must create a new profile (duplicate) of the original files, and rename them so that the launcher interprets them in its own way.

Now, from the version folder. Make a copy of the "1.6.4" folder, and paste it into the same folder. Now rename the copy of the folder to whatever name you want. For example, I called it "xray".

Open the "xray" folder and you will see two files, 1.6.4.jar and 1.6.4.json. You need to change these names.

  • Change 1.6.4.jar to xray.jar
  • Change 1.6.4.json to xray.json
Open the 1.6.4.json file in any text editor, and change the "id" column from "1.6.4" to "xray".

Now open the xray.jar file using WinRAR, including the Xray mod zip file you downloaded.

Move the content from the Xraymod.zip file to the XRAY.jar file. Necessarily: remove the META-INF folder from the JAR.

Now all that remains is to launch the Minecraft launcher, click “NewProfile” and enter a name. In the "Use version" column, select "release xray". And click "Save Profile".

Select the profile you just created. Log in to your account and launch Minecraft. Create new world, and go to single player game or multiplayer and test the mod.

Instructions for installing mods using ModLoader:

You need any modloader for Minecraft.

Go to Start > type "%appdata%/.minecraft" > press Enter. Open the "mods" folder and transfer any mod there, in an archive, with a .zip resolution.

Warning:

1. Before starting any manipulations with Minecraft, make a backup copy (just in case).

2. If you find any errors in the instructions, write in the comments.

Dear visitors of the site "site". Do you want to play not simple minecraft, and what about mods? It is for you that I wrote this article. Today I want to tell you about how to install a Minecraft mod.

To do this, we need to download the archiver from the website. Installing the modification is quite simple; any fourth grader can do it if he does everything according to the instructions. The coolest mods are presented at the bottom of the article.

To start installing the mod, you need to download and install ModLoader, which you can find a little lower. Installed? Great, let's move on.
There are two ways to install mods.
Open the minecraft directory. There are many ways to open it. Here are some of them:

1. Using "Windows Explorer" if in Russian using "Windows Explorer" C:/Users/Profile_name/appdata/Roaming/minecraft/bin.

2. Click the Start menu and click (Run), for Windows 7, you can simply press the key combination “Win + R”. And in the window that appears on your monitor, write: (%appdata%) - and click OK, if you have done everything correctly, the “Minecraft” folder will appear, click, inside we find the “/bin/” folder. Found it? Great. We don't close anything.

3. Next step of minecraft mod:
In the "minecraft/bin" folder we find the file "minecraft.jar" - it is in this file that we place our "Mods". In order to install the mod, we need to open it with WinRar or any other archiver - I hope you have such programs on your computer, but if not, they are freely available on the Internet.

4. Next, open the archive with the previously downloaded archiver. Have you opened it? Ok, let's move on, it won't be long. When "minecraft.jar" is opened using one of the two above-mentioned Archivers, we delete the folder called "META-INF", it is nasty and causes disassembly in the work of our mods! Be sure to delete this folder, otherwise the game will not launch.

5. Now we take all the internals from our archive with the mod and drag everything into our archive called minecraft.jar, that is, install the mod. Let's go into the game, play and enjoy.

Attention! Mods for minecraft are different, some of them require "Minecraft-Forge" already installed, in which case the installation process of the mod is slightly different from that described above.

The second way is how to install the mod.
Well, if you come across such a demanding mod, and you need to install the mod at all costs, you need to find your minecraft in the folder just like we looked for in the first case.
Have you opened it? Now in the minecraft folder we look for a mods folder called “mods” and into this folder we copy the mod (its internals) that we downloaded to the “site”. Now let's all go into the game and play. The next time you start the game, Forge will install the mod itself!
Well, if you still failed to launch the desired mod! You can also watch the video at the bottom of the article, it shows in detail with an example how to install mods on Minecraft.

Thank you for reading this article. You can find even more interesting guides at
Wrote articles and compiled a list of "ZeegZaag" mods specifically for the site.

Hundreds of mods are now created for every game. They add variety to the game, expand its world and provide the player with more freedom. Minecraft has a huge number of mods because the game is incredibly popular. But to use them you need to learn the installation process. Want to know how? Then read the article and follow the directions.

Let’s immediately say that mods are divided into 2 types: those that replace game files and those that use a mod loader (Forge or Modloader). Since the first type of mod causes game files to be replaced, conflicts often arise that prevent the game from starting. Mod loaders make this process easier, eliminating problems with files. The developer, when uploading a mod to the network, must indicate the bootloader he needs. It is also worth knowing that Forge works with almost all mods written for Modloader. But you should not combine them, otherwise problems will arise when starting the game.

Minecraft 1.6.2: installing mods
Please note that earlier installation instructions may not apply to this version. Therefore, look not for minecraft.jar, but for 1.6.2.jar (or replace the 2 with 1). They should be located in the versions folder. The Forge mod loader will create its own folder there (if everything is installed automatically), so we will change the mods there.

We begin the installation by searching for the jar file. To do this, through Start, find the Run command, and type the following there: %appdata%\.minecraft.

Having done this, we move to the versions folder, which contains the versions and profiles already installed. We need a clean one. And if previously the file was called 1.6.2, now it will be called 1.6.2.jar.

When installing Forge or Modloader in a jar, there is a high probability that the game will replace all its files and remove mods. Here Minecraft launchers version 1.6 will come to the rescue, as they “find an approach” to several versions, for which you need to create your own. It can then be modified. This creates a backup copy. Don't forget that Forge will create the profile itself, so if you already use one, you won't need to create a new one.

Go to the versions folder, copying the folder called 1.6.2 there. In it you will see two files: with a json extension and a jar extension. Label them with numbers from the folder name.

There will be several lines there, but you need an id. Change the name of this line to your own and save the file.

Minecraft Forge - installation
How to install manually? Download the mod loader for a specific version of the game, open the archive.

In the Minecraft folder, select the bin folder and open it using the minecraft.jar archiver. If the game version is higher than 1.6, then you need to find jar profiles that are located in the versions folder.

We paste everything we found in the archive into the jar file and delete the META-INF folder. Enter the game. It is done.

It is advisable to download mods that work without a bootloader. Usually, a mods folder appears in the game folders, where all installed mods are located.

Install Modloader
There will be nothing new in the installation. Follow the instructions for the Forge program.

Mods for Minecraft: where to install?
After installing Forge, you can install mods that you have already downloaded. For example, Hammer mod version 1.6.2. This means that you need to install it for a game with the same characteristics.
