Pictures of birds can be very beautiful, especially if you draw the Firebird or the Cockatoo parrot. The colors of the plumage of these birds have such shades that it is sometimes impossible to even match the paint. Pencil drawings cannot convey all the beauty of the bird, but they will be a good drawing lesson. In addition, if you correctly shade a picture of a bird drawn with a simple pencil, they will become voluminous, which is quite difficult to do with paints. For the example of the lesson "How to draw birds" we took a flying parrot. In the future, if you can draw this parrot correctly, you will be able to draw any birds. So let's draw a bird with a pencil step by step.

In this video you will see how to draw a toucan bird step by step.

1. Where to start drawing a bird

First draw an oval in the middle of the sheet of paper, it will be the body of the bird. Then draw a triangle at the bottom of the oval. It will make a tail. Once this is done, you can draw two arched lines for the parrot's outstretched wings.

2. How to draw the outlines of wings

The wings of birds are very similar, differing only in the span and size of the feathers. Towards the upper arched contour lines of the wing, draw lower lines to form the leaves of the wings. Check the proportions of the wings in relation to the bird's body. If everything is correct, let's draw the parrot's head.

3. How to draw a parrot's head

Draw an oval above the outline of the bird's body and draw an outline for the eye in it. There should be a space in the middle of this outline. In it, you will subsequently draw the eye in detail.

3. How to draw a bird's beak

All you need to do at this stage is to carefully and accurately draw a small parrot's beak. There is nothing complicated about this, just watch the proportions.

5. Detailing the drawing of the parrot. Drawing bird feathers

Bird drawing will be almost complete if you add just a few additional details. Namely, you need to outline the contours of the wings, chest, back and tail. Now remove the extra pencil lines from the picture. Leave the lower part of the tail untouched; it will be completed at a later stage.
To draw feathers you will have to spend a lot of time, because you will need to carefully draw them. Each feather should be stretched out, and as you can see in the picture, they become thinner and smaller at the top, but at the bottom, on the contrary, they are larger.

6. Detailed drawing of feathers

Once you have drawn the basic feathers, start sketching out the soft feathers (down) under the wings and on the belly. In the picture they will look like fluff. So we have come step by step to the end of the lesson “How to draw birds”. There is very little left to draw: draw out the tail, finish drawing the carcass, and then outline small hips, paws and claws.
Delete the old, now unnecessary pencil sketches that you drew in the initial stages. That's how it turned out bird drawing- drawing of a flying parrot. I want to give some more tips on how to draw flying birds. Remember that when you draw big bird and small with spread wings, the proportions of the wings to the body are different. A large bird has much larger wings than its body.

7. How to draw wings of soaring birds

The picture shows the outstretched wings of large flying birds, eagles and swans. Such birds have large gaps between the body and wings, making it easier for them to soar in the air. The flight feathers of small birds are less noticeable, almost merging into one whole. Large birds have very noticeable feathers, especially when they open their wings.

8. Differences in wing shapes between birds

If you draw an eagle, pay attention that its wing is designed differently than, for example, the wing of a swan. The shape of the eagle's wings is rectangular.

In this lesson you will be able to draw a beautiful Macaw parrot step by step.

Let's try to draw an eagle, one of the most predatory and powerful birds, which can carry even a small lamb in its paws. Its wide and long wings, together with its rounded beak, give the eagle a menacing appearance.

Pigeon, good character for drawing a wall newspaper dedicated to Teacher's Day, especially for May 1 and Victory Day - May 9. Everyone knows that the drawing of this bird is a symbol of peace and happiness, so very often pictures of doves are used for weddings.

Of course, a butterfly is not a bird and it’s easy to draw, but there are some tricks and tricks here.

The swan is a very beautiful bird. Its beautiful wide wings and especially thin, graceful neck give grace and noble grace to this bird. Drawing a swan is not that difficult. Its body consists of a large round belly, a long elongated neck and wings. The most important thing is to draw the neck and wings well, they are the most important parts of this bird.

Pictures of dragons are definitely difficult to draw. In fact, a dragon is a symbiosis of a lizard and a bird, and in the drawing of a dragon it is necessary to reflect the plasticity of these two creatures. It will be easier to draw a dragon if you have already tried to draw a bird before.

First, let's draw the approximate shape of the Firebird and its limbs. Remember that these are just initial outlines, you should not draw details at this stage.

Getting to know the birds of our country (settled, migratory, domestic and forest birds, as well as birds listed in the Red Book)

Guessing riddles about birds (in the literary appendix)

After getting acquainted with the birds on the posters, you can offer the children a game - find identical birds on the cards, name them, tell about them
Note:
This practical work can become part of a large educational project. An exhibition of children's drawings can decorate a group or music hall on Bird Day.

Progress:

Option 1 (singing birds)
This is the easiest way to work. It can be used to work with children - 4 -5 years old. Very often, children of this age draw fish and birds almost identically. We will learn to simply draw birds.
Fold the plain sheet and the sheet of carbon paper in half with the short sides facing each other. Older children can do this on their own.
With this kind of drawing, even a mistake in folding the sheet will not be a mistake. (After all, birds can sing while looking at each other, or turning away from each other). But it’s better, of course, for an adult to control the folding process.
If the sheet is folded to the left, then the bird's head should be closer to the fold than the body

We place the circle of the head and the oval of the body along the diagonal of the sheet (the diagonal goes from the upper left to the lower right corner). You need to mentally imagine it, you can even run your finger to feel it. The proportions of the circle of the head and the oval of the body differ in different birds. In our case, the small songbird has a small head and body. But we still draw an oval larger than a circle.

Now we draw the eye and beak. The eye is small and round. The beak is also ordinary. When drawing a parrot, crossbill, heron, flamingo or pelican, the beak, of course, will be different. These birds have beaks adapted to obtain different foods.

Add a neck and draw feathers above the paws

The wing is shaped like a teardrop. You need to draw it from a point above the body. A smooth line draws the silhouette of a droplet and returns to the same point.

The second wing peeks out from behind the first.
The next stage is the image of the tail. Since we are not drawing a specific bird (a sparrow or a titmouse), we draw any tail - short or long.

Draw the feathers on the neck and tail

We draw long feathers on the wings. They are called flywheels.

The feathers on the body and head are short and small. They can simply be depicted with dashes.

Paws and crest give the pattern a finished look

Twigs and leaves complement the composition of the leaf.

Unfold the drawing and remove the carbon paper.

We tint (shade with a cotton pad) or paint the work. You can color with wax, pastel or gel crayons, as well as colored pencils.

Option 2 (woodpeckers)

You can often find woodpeckers in the forest. Most often we do not see them, but hear them. Today we’ll draw. We will draw one bird, and when we unfold it we will get two.

First, draw a straight vertical line approximately in the middle of the sheet. This is the trunk. The woodpecker clings to the trunk with its paws, but its tail also serves as a support. We place the circle of the head and the oval of the body diagonally. The oval is closer to the trunk, the circle is further away.

We connect the head and torso. We draw down “droplets” of wings and a tail. We outline the boundaries of the color.

Using vertical strokes we draw the bark of a dry tree. You can draw a hollow in it, and branches without leaves.

The woodpecker is a motley bird. With different pressure (sometimes weak, sometimes strong) we stroke its feathers.

Unfold the sheet and remove the carbon paper. The work is ready.

Option 3 (grouse)

Few people are probably lucky enough to see capercaillie displaying and hear their unique, special voice. It is more like a scream, like the tapping of wooden sticks. They say that while singing, these birds do not see or hear anything around them - even take them with bare hands. For this they were nicknamed wood grouse.
Wood grouse have a gorgeous mottled tail. It somewhat resembles a turkey's tail.

We draw the frame of the future drawing on the top, bottom and right. We draw wavy or straight lines, slightly retreating from the edge. The capercaillie has a thin and Long neck and a large body. Draw an oval in the middle of the sheet, and a small circle higher up.

We connect the head and torso. We draw the tail with two lines. We draw a straight line towards the upper right edge of the sheet, and we connect the straight line with the oval line to the body.

We draw a droplet-like wing and shade it, depicting short feathers, the head, neck and body of the bird. On the head of the capercaillie there is a characteristic, slightly ruffled crest and beard.

Let's take care of the wing. There are long feathers at the edge of the wing. We depict small feathers using different decorative lines

Now the most important decoration is the tail. It has lighter spots.

The last stage is the legs and branches above the bird’s head.

We turn around and see two rivals. They sing selflessly, (walk) without noticing anyone around.

Option 4 (roosters)

A very common subject in art is that of rival roosters. They can be drawn in different ways. Here is one of possible options– fighting cocks attacking each other.

Everyone loves birds, but not everyone knows how to draw them. It's actually very simple and entertaining. In our article you will learn how to draw a bird with a pencil step by step for children. Follow our instructions and you will definitely succeed. Let's begin.

Let's draw a bird step by step. Let's start with the head. We draw the shape of a semicircle with a small indentation in the place where our bird’s beak will be. We advise you not to press too hard with the pencil so that, if necessary, you can easily erase and draw again. Next, from the bend of our semicircle we draw a triangle, it will be the beak. You choose the length and shape yourself, but draw it in such a way that everything looks harmonious and natural. Next to the beak we apply an eye, its shape should be round. Place the eye at the level of the beak. Compare what you got with our drawing. If the pictures are different, then don’t be upset, you are just learning and you need experience.

Drawing a bird with a pencil is extremely simple. The next step will be the torso. From the base of our head we need to draw two curved lines. The first circular guide is drawn from below; it will serve as the tummy. The second line is drawn on top of the bird, forming the back. Start from the head, moving up and then smoothly down. How you place these lines determines how thin or plump our bird will be in the end.

It is very important to follow how to draw a bird with a pencil step by step. If you start with the tail or wings, the proportions may not match. Moreover, the bird may turn out uneven and sloppy.

Let's start drawing the wings. To do this we will need to conduct two waves. The length of these lines will be responsible for the span of the wings themselves. Conditionally mark where you will draw these strokes from and draw them in one movement, making the outline of each of the lines. It's okay if some lines intertwine with others. Anything unnecessary can always be erased, and the necessary contour segments can be drawn with thick lines.

To draw a swallow with a pencil step by step, you need to monitor what you get. Your bird is already beginning to take shape and recognizable outlines. Next we move on to the back side of the wings. Using semicircular movements we draw a circle. These patterns are similar to waves that will give beautiful shape and complete the stage of drawing the wings. Try to draw these lines smoothly. The more carefully you apply them, the more realistic the final picture will be.

You can already observe the beautiful flight of our bird, but this is not the end. As you may have noticed, the bird drawing in pencil does not yet have a tail. We begin to finish the body, which smoothly turns into the closing outline. Draw lines and try to fluff them up a little at the very end of the tail. These are feathers that are very lush on a living bird. Having drawn these lines, round the tail with sharp movements until it closes between the upper and lower parts. You don't need to draw a lot of curves like on the wings. Three or four curls are enough.

The last final stage of the drawing is the selection of the main contour lines. How to draw a bird beautifully? Of course, you need to add the finishing touches. Draw long lines from the bends of the tail. We'll do the same with the wings. The area of the brisket should be highlighted: to do this, draw a line from the base of the neck, smoothly closing at the base of the wing.

We hope that our article helped you draw a beautiful bird. Don't stop there and develop your skills further.

It is pleasant to hear the vociferous singing of birds in spring and summer. Their trills can be heard in the forest, by the river, in the meadow, or just in the yard. Birds sing especially joyfully in the early morning, greeting the dawn. And in winter you can enjoy the singing of tits and bullfinches. In general, throughout the whole time of the year we can observe different types and bird breeds. A bird is a feathered and downy vertebrate with wings, two limbs and a beak. Birds are domestic, wild, forest, songbirds, waterfowl, and exotic. The bird is a symbol of the sun, sky, wind, freedom, life and abundance. Children love birds very much, so the problem often arises of how to draw a bird for a child with a pencil. In nature you can find birds of different sizes. Birds large sizes, such as the crow, jackdaw, and pigeon, can most often be seen in courtyards. Sparrows and titmice coexist next to them, because food can be found here, especially in the cold and hungry winter. Even watching birds from the window of an apartment or house, you can not only determine the type of bird, but also note its size, what color its plumage is, what beak it is - long, short, straight or hooked. Having learned the name of the bird, you need to talk with your child about the fact that birds bring great benefits: they destroy harmful insects. And after that you can start drawing the bird you like.

What you will need:

  • paper;
  • a simple pencil;
  • eraser;
  • colour pencils.

Of course, the main feature of birds is their ability to fly. That is why I will show how to draw a flying bird to a child of 10 or even 6 years old. It will be easy!

I hope this lesson was useful to you and you learned how easy it is to draw a bird for a child. Share our lessons with your friends and send your works to us on social networks!
