COCKROACH

Part one

The bears were driving
By bike.

And behind them is a cat
Backwards.

And behind him are mosquitoes
On a hot air balloon.

And behind them are crayfish
On a lame dog.

Wolves on a mare.
Lions in a car.

Bunnies
On a tram.

Toad on a broom...

They drive and laugh
They are chewing gingerbread.

Suddenly from the gateway
Scary giant
Red-haired and mustachioed
Cockroach!
Cockroach, Cockroach, Cockroach!

He growls and screams
And he moves his mustache:
"Wait, don't rush,
I'll swallow you up in no time!
I will swallow, I will swallow, I will not have mercy."

The animals trembled
They fainted.

Wolves from fright
They ate each other.

Poor crocodile
Swallowed the toad.

And the elephant, trembling all over,
So she sat on the hedgehog.

Only bully crayfish
They are not afraid of a fight:
Even though they are moving backwards,
But they move their mustaches
And they shout to the mustachioed giant:

"Don't scream or growl,
We ourselves are mustachioed,
We can do it ourselves
Move your mustache!"
And they backed away even further.

And the Hippopotamus said
Crocodiles and whales:

"Who is not afraid of the villain
And he will fight the monster,
I am that hero
I'll give you two frogs
AND fir cone please!"

"We are not afraid of him,
Your giant:
We are teeth
We are fangs
We're hoofing it!"

And a cheerful crowd
The animals rushed into battle.

But, seeing the barbel
(Ah ah ah!),
The animals gave chase
(Ah ah ah!).

They scattered through the forests and fields:
They were scared of the cockroach's whiskers.

And the Hippopotamus cried:
"What a shame, what a disgrace!
Hey bulls and rhinoceroses,
Leave the den
And the enemy
On the horns
Lift it up!"

But bulls and rhinoceroses
They answer from the den:
"We would be the enemy
On the horns.
Only the skin is precious
And now there are horns too
not cheap"

And they sit and tremble
Under the bushes
They hide behind the swamps
Bumps.

Crocodiles in nettles
They are huddled,
And there are elephants in the ditch
They buried themselves.

All you can hear is
How teeth chatter
All you can see is
How the ears tremble.

And the dashing monkeys
Picked up the suitcases
And quickly as fast as you can
Run away.

And the shark
She dodged
She just waved her tail.

And behind her is a cuttlefish -
So he backs away
That's how it rolls.

Part two

So the Cockroach became
winner
And the ruler of forests and fields.
The animals submitted to the mustachioed one.
(So that he fails,
damn!)
And he walks between them,
The gilded belly strokes:
"Bring it to me, animals,
your children
I'm having them for dinner today
I'll eat you!"

Poor, poor animals!
Howling, crying, roaring!
In every den
And in every cave
The evil glutton is cursed.

And what kind of mother is that?
Will agree to give
Your dear child -
Teddy bear, wolf cub,
baby elephant -
To an unfed scarecrow
Poor baby
tortured!

They cry, they die,
With the kids forever
say goodbye.

But one morning
The kangaroo galloped up
I saw a barbel
She shouted in the heat of the moment:
"Is this a giant?
(Ha ha ha!)
It's just a cockroach!
(Ha ha ha!)

Cockroach, cockroach,
cockroach,
Liquid-legged
little booger-bug.
And aren't you ashamed?
Aren't you offended?
You are toothy
You are fanged
And the little one
Bowed down
And the booger
Submit!"

The hippos were scared
They whispered: “What are you, what are you!
Get out of here!
No matter how bad it would be for us!”

Only suddenly, from behind a bush,
Because of the blue forest,
From distant fields
Sparrow arrives.
Jump and jump
Yes, chirp, chirp,
Chiki-riki-chik-chirik!

He took and pecked the Cockroach,
So there is no giant.
The giant got it right
And there was no mustache left from him.

I'm glad, I'm glad
The whole animal family
Glorify, congratulate
Daring Sparrow!

The donkeys sing his glory according to the notes,
Goats sweep the road with their beards,
Rams, rams
They're beating the drums!
Trumpeter Owls
They're blowing!

Rooks from the tower
They're screaming!
The bats
On the roof
They wave handkerchiefs
And they dance.

And the dandy elephant
So he dances dashingly,
What a ruddy moon
Trembling in the sky
And on the poor elephant
She fell head over heels.

Then there was the concern -
Dive into the swamp for the moon
And nail it to heaven!

The bears were driving
By bike.

And behind them is a cat

Analysis of the poem “Cockroach” by Chukovsky

“The Cockroach” by Korney Chukovsky was published by the Raduga publishing house and illustrated by S. Chekhonin.

The poem was conceived in the spring of 1921, embodied on paper in its final version and published at the end of next year. Its author is 40 years old at this time, he is known as a writer, critic, and researcher of the legacy of N. Nekrasov. The genre is a poetic fairy tale, partly written in a stanza invented by the poet (a passage about a cone, a bully crayfish). These are trochaic verses with paired rhymes and a single line (no rhyme). Counting rhythm, dactylic line endings. The plot is dynamic and immediately grabs the attention of the reader or listener. The characters are folklore, but outside their role. Technology, cityscape - everything is like people’s. The toad on the broom is straight out of some old spell. “They ride and laugh”: a utopian world that is already under threat. The trouble comes “from the gateway”. A nightmare in reality: a growling cockroach. It comes from the works of the graphomaniac I. Lebyadkin, the hero of “Demons” by F. Dostoevsky. Enumerative gradations pour in as if from a cornucopia. So the villain (the suffix only emphasizes his monstrousness, archetypicality; the neologism is semantic, and not just verbal) not only bursts out with a roar that surpasses all imagination, but also “moves his mustache,” which makes every second animal faint. “They ate each other”: absurd politeness. It turns out there is also a king: Hippopotamus. His speech is as if from Russian folk and Pushkin fairy tales, and even “The Little Humpbacked Horse” by P. Ershov. The intonation is majestic, epic. The award is again something of an absurdity. Only fit for a heron or a woodpecker. A “cheerful crowd” of victims rushed towards the ominous figure of an insect standing with his arms crossed on his chest. His powerful charisma knocks you off your feet. Folklore truncated verb form: they ran away, got scared. Those who were larger, for ideological reasons, refused to fight the usurper. The crocodile, having swallowed a toad in a hurry (maybe right away with a broom), lay down in the nettles. Evil triumphs. An example of parentesis: God damn him! “A bear cub, a baby elephant,” he demands for food. The kangaroo is the first swallow of victory, she giggles and insults the barbel. Finally, Sparrow (he doesn’t even speak, but tweets!) “took it and pecked.” Sparrow is his own man, his feat does not frighten him. The moon falls from the sky due to their rejoicing. Everyone is excitedly dragging it out of the quagmire to put it back up. The grief is forgotten. Has the lesson been learned? The version that I. Stalin is depicted here is untenable in terms of dates, and the guessed type of tyrant is universal. Exclamations, questions, repetitions (I’m glad). Animals are humanized, diminutive suffixes (with a tail), there is inversion (the animals have submitted), dialogues, amplification (howl, sob, roar). The writer clearly expresses sympathy for the simple-minded klutzes, follows the plot with such interest, as if he himself does not know how it will end.

There is an undoubted connection between K. Chukovsky’s “Cockroach” and oral folk art, I. Krylov’s fables, limericks, and even with N. Gogol’s “The Inspector General.”

“Don’t scream or growl, We ourselves are mustaches, We can move our mustaches ourselves!” And they backed away even further.

“Whoever is not afraid of a villain and fights a monster, I will give that hero two frogs and a fir cone!”

“We are not afraid of him, your Giant: We are with his teeth, We are with his fangs, We are with his hooves!”

And the Hippopotamus cried out: “What a shame, what a disgrace! Hey, bulls and rhinoceroses, get out of the den and raise the enemy to your horns!”

But bulls and rhinoceroses Answer from the den: “We would kill the enemy. Only the skin is expensive, And horns are not cheap these days either,”

And they sit and tremble under the bushes, They hide behind the swamp hummocks.

The crocodiles hid in the nettles, and the elephants hid in the ditch.

You can only hear your teeth chattering, You can only see your ears trembling.

And the dashing monkeys picked up the suitcases and ran away as fast as they could.

And what kind of mother would agree to give up her dear child - a bear cub, a wolf cub, an elephant calf - so that an unfed stuffed animal would torture the poor baby!

They cry, they are killed, They say goodbye to the kids forever.

But one morning a kangaroo galloped up, saw a barbel, and screamed in the heat of the moment: “Is this a giant? (Ha-ha-ha!) It’s just a cockroach! (Ha-ha-ha!)

Only suddenly, from behind a bush, from behind a blue forest, from distant fields, a Sparrow flies.

Rooks from the tower are screaming! Bats on the roof are waving handkerchiefs and dancing.

And the dandy elephant danced so dashingly that the ruddy moon trembled in the sky and fell head over heels on the poor elephant.

Then there was the concern - Diving into the swamp for the moon And nailing it to the heavens with nails!

  • And the elephant, trembling all over,
  • So she sat on the hedgehog.
  • Only bully crayfish
  • They are not afraid of a fight:
  • Even though they are moving backwards,
  • But they move their mustaches.
  • And they shout to the mustachioed giant:
  • "Don't scream or growl!
  • We ourselves are mustachioed.
  • We can do it ourselves
  • Move your mustache."
  • And they retreated even further back.
  • And the Hippopotamus said
  • Crocodiles and whales:
  • "Who is not afraid of the villain

  • And the hippopotamus cried:
  • “What a shame, what a disgrace!
  • Hey bulls and rhinoceroses,
  • Get out of the den
  • And raise the bull to its horns!”
  • But bulls and rhinoceroses
  • They answer from the den:
  • "We would be the enemy
  • On the horns
  • Only the skin is precious
  • And horns aren’t cheap these days either.”
  • And they sit and tremble under the bushes
  • They hide behind the swamp hummocks.
  • Crocodiles huddled in the nettles,
  • And the elephants hid in the ditch.
  • All you can hear is teeth grinding,
  • All you can see is how your ears are trembling.
  • And the dashing monkeys
  • We picked up our suitcases
  • And quickly as fast as you can
  • Run away.
  • And the shark dodged
  • She just waved her tail.
  • And after her the cuttlefish
  • So he backs away, and he goes back.
  • So the cockroach became the winner
  • And the ruler of forests and fields.
  • The animals submitted to the mustachioed one.
  • (God damn him!)
  • And he walks between them,
  • The gilded belly strokes:
  • “Bring me, animals, your children,
  • I’ll eat them for dinner today.”
  • Poor, poor animals!
  • Howling, crying, roaring!
  • In every den
  • And in every cave
  • The evil glutton is cursed.
  • And what kind of mother would agree to give
  • Your dear child -
  • A bear cub, a wolf cub, a baby elephant, -
  • To an unfed scarecrow
  • The poor baby was tortured!
  • They're crying, they're killing themselves
  • They say goodbye to the kids forever.
  • But one morning
  • The kangaroo galloped up
  • I saw a barbel
  • She screamed passionately:
  • “Isn’t this a giant!
  • (Ha ha ha!)
  • It's just a cockroach!
  • (Ha ha ha!)
  • Cockroach, cockroach, cockroach,
  • A thin-legged little bug.
  • And aren't you ashamed?
  • Aren't you offended?
  • You are toothy
  • You are fanged,
  • And they bowed to the little one,
  • And they submitted to the little booger.
  • The hippos were scared
  • They whispered: “What are you, what are you!
  • Get out of here!
  • No matter how bad it would be for us!”
  • Only suddenly, from behind a bush,
  • Because of the blue forest,
  • From distant fields
  • A sparrow arrives.
  • Jump and jump and chirp-tweet
  • Chiki-riki-chik-chirik.
  • Picked up and pecked the Cockroach
  • So there is no giant.
  • The giant got it right

  • Dive into the swamp for the moon
  • And nail it to heaven!

Here's a poem from childhood. To be honest, I only remembered by heart up to the words “they ride and laugh, chew gingerbread.” I forgot what this poem was all about. While I was rewriting it, I had a lot of fun. By the way, I use that first part (before the gingerbread cookies) when I bend the baby’s legs one by one (this is for colic). He is very amused by exercises with rhymes. So we forget about the pain in the tummy. 🙂 Then, when the baby grows up, I want to learn this rhyme with him. Well, for cartoon lovers, I found this video.

Bears rode a bicycle - Korney Chukovsky

The bears rode on bicycles.

And behind them the cat is backwards.

And behind him are mosquitoes in a balloon.

And behind them are crayfish On a lame dog.

Wolves on a mare. Lions in a car.

Bunnies on a tram.

Toad on a broom...

They drive and laugh, chewing gingerbread.

Suddenly, from the gateway, a terrible giant, red-haired and mustachioed, Ta-ra-kan! Cockroach, Cockroach, Cockroach!

He growls and screams, and moves his mustache: “Wait, don’t rush, I’ll swallow you in an instant! I’ll swallow you, I’ll swallow you, I won’t have mercy.”

The animals trembled and fainted.

The wolves were frightened and ate each other.

The poor crocodile swallowed Toad.

And the elephant, all trembling, sat down on the hedgehog.

Only bully crayfish are not afraid of a fight: Although they back away, they move their mustaches and shout to the mustachioed giant:

“Don’t scream or growl, We ourselves are mustaches, We can move our mustaches ourselves!” And they backed away even further.

And he said to the Hippos, Crocodiles and whales:

“Whoever is not afraid of the villain and fights the monster, I will give that hero two frogs and a fir cone!”

“We are not afraid of him, your Giant: We are with his teeth, We are with his fangs, We are with his hooves!”

And in a cheerful crowd the animals rushed into battle.

But when they saw the barbel (Ay-ay-ay!), the animals gave chase (Ay-ay-ay!).

They scattered through the forests and fields: They were afraid of the cockroach’s whiskers.

And the Hippopotamus cried: “What a shame, what a shame! Hey, bulls and rhinoceroses, get out of the den and raise the enemy to your horns!”

But the bulls and rhinoceroses Answer from the den: “We would kill the enemy for the horns. Only the skin is expensive, And the horns are not cheap these days either,”

And they sit and tremble under the bushes, hiding behind the swamp hummocks.

The crocodiles hid in the nettles, and the elephants hid in the ditch.

All you can hear is the chattering of your teeth, all you can see is your ears trembling.

And the dashing monkeys picked up the suitcases and ran away as fast as they could.

And the shark dodged, just waved its tail.

And behind her is the cuttlefish - So it backs away, And so it rolls.

So the Cockroach became the winner, And the ruler of the forests and fields. The animals submitted to the mustachioed one. (So that he fails, damned one!) And he walks among them, stroking his gilded belly: “Bring me, animals, your babies, I’ll eat them at dinner today!” "

Poor, poor animals! Howl, sob, roar! In every den and in every cave they curse the evil glutton.

And what kind of mother would agree to give up her dear child - a bear cub, a wolf cub, an elephant calf - so that an unfed stuffed animal would torture the poor baby!

They cry, they are killed, they say goodbye to the kids forever.

But one morning a kangaroo galloped up, saw a barbel, and shouted in the heat of the moment: “Is this a giant? (Ha-ha-ha!) It’s just a cockroach! (Ha-ha-ha!)

Cockroach, cockroach, cockroach, thin-legged little bug. And aren’t you ashamed? Aren’t you offended? You are toothy, you are fanged, And you bowed to the little one, And you submitted to the little booger!”

The hippopotamuses got scared and whispered: “What are you doing, what are you doing! Get out of here! No matter how bad things come for us!”

Only suddenly, from behind a bush, from behind a blue forest, from the distant fields, a Sparrow flies.

He took and pecked the Cockroach, and the giant was gone. The giant got it right, and there was no mustache left of him.

The bears were riding a bicycle... it's time to learn poetry)

I realized that I know a couple of lines from every children’s song and poem, I don’t remember anything in its entirety.... It’s a mess! And Antoshka absolutely loves listening to the measured rhythm of poetry, for example, this poem is great for massage:
