But store-bought straws are not the same, the waffles in them are not crunchy, and the filling is cloying and so heavy that one straw weighs 200 grams. So let's get out our waffle irons and bake homemade waffles - crispy, tasty, thin!

Let's roll the wafer rolls and fill them with your favorite cream. And you will have a warm family tea party, and your children will then happily remember the waffle rolls and ask you for the recipe for crispy waffles so they can treat them to their children! 🙂

This is the recipe for the crispiest, but also the most high-calorie waffles. But you can make waffles with kefir, and with milk without butter, and even dietary waffles with whole grain flour. For every taste! And we will try all these recipes. Come on in for Waffle Week! 🙂

Ingredients:

  • 5 eggs;
  • 200 g butter;
  • 1 glass of sugar (a little less is possible);
  • 1 and 1/3 cups of flour (I have a glass with a volume of 200 g, it holds 130 g of flour without a slide. So, 1 and 1/3 cups is approximately 180 g of flour).
  • 1 tablespoon of odorless sunflower oil - so that the waffles do not stick to the waffle iron.

Note: to reduce fat content, you can replace half the butter with sour cream, take 100 g of butter and 100 g of sour cream.

How to bake:

Olya, a regular reader and author of delicious children's recipes on the site, told me the recipe for the dough for crispy waffles. This recipe came complete with an electric waffle iron, “native”, so to speak, and therefore the most successful.

I improved it a little more, taking into account the information found on the Internet. In the original, you need to melt the butter, but it’s even better to just soften it: then the waffles won’t stick to the waffle iron.

So, beat the softened butter with sugar using a mixer.

Add eggs and beat some more.

Sift flour into the dough and mix.

The consistency of the dough should be like pancakes.

To prevent the waffles from sticking to the waffle iron, add 1 tablespoon of sunflower oil. I did this after the 2nd waffle: the first two things had to be separated from the surface of the waffle iron with a knife, but after adding oil, the waffles came off perfectly, and there was no need to grease the waffle iron each time. Once before the first waffle was enough.

The dough is ready! You can start exciting activity– making homemade waffles!

our electric waffle iron for thin waffles

My parents gave me the waffle iron. Once upon a time, delicious waffles were baked in it, and then for a long time not used. We found her while cleaning out the garage. I was very happy, because I had long wanted to learn how to bake homemade waffles, but at the same time I was slightly worried whether the waffle iron would work after 10 or 15 years of oblivion? I wiped it thoroughly, dried it, and lubricated the surfaces properly. sunflower oil and plugged it into the outlet. A couple of minutes of waiting... and - hurray! – the waffle iron started to heat up! Works! So there will be waffles. 🙂

Just do not touch the surface of the waffle iron with your finger to check if it is hot. Not only can you get burned, there is a risk of getting an electric shock. To check whether the waffle iron is warm enough, you can drop a drop of batter on it: if it starts to cook, then you can start baking waffles. It takes 4-5 minutes to warm up, but then the unit will heat up and the process will begin.

pour a little less than in the photo

Pour 1-2 tablespoons of dough onto the bottom surface. Exact amount established by experiment. If you pour a lot, the dough will run slightly over the edges, and you can carefully remove it with a knife. If you pour too little, the waffle will not fill the entire area of the waffle iron. It's not scary, it'll just be a small tube.

So, pour the dough, close the waffle iron and press it by the handles. Carefully! – at this moment hot steam flies out of the waffle iron, so put an oven mitt on your hand.

We hold it a little, and then you can let it go and let it bake. One waffle is baked from 20-30 seconds to 1.5-3 minutes, depending on the power and settings of your waffle iron. To find out if it’s ready, open the waffle iron slightly and look in... It’s still pale, which means you need to hold it for a couple more minutes.

the waffle is not quite ready yet

It's about to be ready...

a little bit more...

But now it's time to take it out! We act quickly, as the finished waffles quickly harden and become brittle.

the waffle is ready!

Use a knife or spatula to pry up the waffle, transfer it from the waffle iron to a board or plate and quickly, while still soft, roll it into a tube.

Be careful, the waffle is hot. After twisting the wafer roll, hold it for a few seconds to prevent it from unwinding. Hooray, it worked! The first tube is not lumpy. Place it on a plate and start baking the second waffle.

This is not a quick task - from a portion of dough you get 15 waffles, and since each one is baked for 4 minutes, then general cooking will take 1 hour. But how great it is to sit in the kitchen, in the warmth, chat with your family about this and that, and then taste crispy homemade waffles together!

So a whole pile of straws is ready! We couldn't resist and tried two without filling at once. By the way, it’s very tasty, you can eat waffles just like that, without cream!

Or you can fill them with condensed milk, or custard, or chocolate, or protein... There are many options! And you and I will slowly try them out - because we already know how to cook thin, crispy waffles in an electric waffle iron!

And here’s a bonus for those who read to the end :) The funniest collection of funny pictures I’ve ever seen at the moment. 😀

Each of us probably remembers crispy Soviet waffle rolls, because we looked forward to such a delicacy every weekend! The tubes were prepared on holidays and filled with jam, jam, cream, etc. - everything that came to hand. However, even without filling, such a waffle dessert did not stay on the plate for a long time - it was sold out instantly if it was served with freshly brewed tea or coffee. To prepare Soviet straws, you need a Soviet waffle iron - dense, heavy, rectangular. The waffle dough is prepared quickly and is calculated for 7-8 tubes.

Ingredients

  • 3 chicken eggs
  • 150 g butter
  • 1 tbsp. flour
  • 1 tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 2 pinches of salt

Preparation

1. Melt the butter in a water bath or in microwave oven, without bringing it to a boil, otherwise the chicken eggs added to the dough will curl.

2. Pour the oil into a blender bowl, add chicken eggs, salt, granulated sugar and wheat flour. Mix everything for about 2-3 minutes to form a thick dough. There is no need to add baking soda or baking powder to the dough!

3. Heat the Soviet waffle iron to the maximum and grease both parts with butter or vegetable oil for the first time. Place 1 tbsp on the pan. l. dough with the top and press with the second form. Bake the waffles for 1–2 minutes, keeping an eye on their surface. As soon as it turns brown, you can remove the golden pastry with a spatula.

4. To create a tube out of it, the wafer layer must be twisted immediately after removing it from the mold, while it is still hot, otherwise it will then break into pieces in your hands. After twisting, do not forget to press the tube with something, such as a spatula or spoon, until it cools down.

Place the finished Soviet tubes on a dish and serve. They are incredibly delicious with any jam, jam or preserves!

Note to the hostess

1. Baking powder usually improves the consistency of yeast-free dough, but in the case of waffles, everything is different: soda and vinegar will make the finished product brittle, causing it to break when folded even in a very hot state. Baking powder will lead to the same undesirable result.

2. Housewives from the Czech Republic, Austria, and Slovakia prefer such straws to any other baked goods. For breakfast in these countries they are made as often as oatmeal in Britain, and scrambled eggs and bacon in America. Hollow wafer cylinders or cones are most often filled with pre-prepared marzipan; when this is not available, they are filled with salted or sweetened cottage cheese. All three options not only taste good, but are also nutritious. If you give a couple of pieces to your child for school, he will feel a surge of strength after eating. Moreover, such food is convenient as a snack: just wrap the base of the waffle with a napkin and wrap it up cling film, and no plastic container is required.

3. Excellent filling options for waffles baked in the Soviet style - whipped cream, fruit and cream parfait, protein cream(it can be made multi-colored using concentrated juices of bright berries). All of them adhere well to the crispy dough and do not leak.

What you need for cooking:

Waffle iron;

Spoon or small ladle;

Wide bowl for kneading dough and filling;

Gloves;

Scales or glass for measuring (I have 200 ml.).

Dough:

4 chicken eggs (~ 200 gr.);

170 gr. sugar (1 glass);

130 gr. flour (1 cup);

100 gr. butter, fat content 82.5%.

Cooking process:

  • In order to prepare the dough for crispy waffles, we need to melt the butter. This can be done in the microwave or on the stove. I prefer to melt the butter in the microwave, but you need to do it carefully, because... the oil should not boil. You shouldn’t set the timer for a minute and leave the microwave, but it’s better to heat it for 10-20 seconds and check for readiness. Set the melted butter aside for now and let’s prepare the rest of the ingredients.
  • Combine eggs and sugar in a bowl and beat this mixture a little with a whisk. You don’t need to mix for a long time, just enough to get a homogeneous mass. Next, add the slightly cooled butter and whisk everything until the sugar is completely dissolved. Sift flour into the resulting mass and knead the dough.

  • The mass turns out to be quite thick, similar to condensed milk. Ready dough Set aside for now.

  • While the dough is “resting”, we will prepare the waffle iron in which we will bake delicious, crispy waffles. I use an electric waffle iron, so I’ll tell you how to prepare and bake waffles in it. Having greased the surface with a small layer of vegetable oil, we plug the waffle iron into the outlet and wait for the indicator to light up and give us permission to bake waffles in it =) ATTENTION! If you are a child, be sure to prepare waffles with adults, because... it can be dangerous to your health!
  • When the waffle iron is ready, we begin the baking process. I prefer small waffles, so I use about 1 tablespoon of batter per waffle. You can adjust the amount of dough as you wish. The main thing is that there is no more dough than the waffle iron itself =) Close top part electric waffle irons and bake.

  • You can periodically open the waffle iron and check the degree of doneness (just be careful, the waffle iron can emit very hot steam) . Some electric waffle irons have the ability to select power. I prefer to bake on medium power, in my opinion, it’s easier to control the degree of frying.

  • Remove the finished waffle from the waffle iron using a spatula. Unfortunately, it is difficult to find an electric waffle iron in which the waffle is fried evenly; as a rule, the result is as in the photo below. But this does not affect the taste and crispness of the waffles.

  • If you do not plan to roll the waffle, for example, into a tube, then leave it on the plate and proceed to baking the next one.

  • And if you want to give the finished waffle some shape, then you need to do this immediately after removing it from the waffle iron. The waffles simply instantly become brittle and brittle. Just please be careful, the waffles are very hot! Therefore, it is better to “arm yourself” with clean gloves and work with waffles only in them.

  • Ready waffles cool quickly enough, so when you finish baking the last waffle, the rest will already be ready for your tea party.
  • Brew tea or coffee and enjoy =)

On a note:

  • It is very important to follow safety precautions when working with an electric waffle iron and the waffles themselves. All items are very hot! Therefore, in order not to discourage your desire to cook waffles and not to put cold things on your fingers, protect yourself with gloves. Be careful!
  • This type of waffle is great for creating tubes and cones, from which you can subsequently make other types of desserts.
  • If desired, you can cut out various shapes from hot waffles using cutters.

Be sure to try making these crispy waffles. It's very fast, simple, and most importantly delicious. recipe for electric waffle iron, according to which your waffles will turn out right the first time. And also, this is the basis for other interesting desserts.

If this recipe turned out to be useful to you, then I will be glad if you leave your feedback about what you did =)
