Can't complete the quest Storming the Castle? Here you will find instructions on how to complete the task the first time and what secrets and Easter eggs await you inside. You will find out where the weapons are hidden and how to deal with the Boss.

Fallout 4: assault on Fort Independence, walkthrough

Preston Garvey gives this task, saying that in order to restore the Minutemen’s former strength, they need to rebuild their old base, which is located on the territory of the Castle. To do this, he will invite the hero to meet near the Castle when it is ready, and the Fallout 4 Assault on Fort Independence task will appear in the Pip-Boy. Until this quest is completed, we will no longer be able to cross paths with Preston.

The main task will be to clean up all kinds of evil spirits in Fallout 4 Fort Independence. The hero learns that the castle was destroyed by an unknown creature that crawled out of the sea and firmly settled there, scattering all the inhabitants. Assault on Fort Independence Fallout 4, the walkthrough will begin when you find a group of Minutemen led by Preston in a destroyed house, not far from the Castle. He will offer to choose one of three plans for clearing the territory. What you choose doesn't matter of great importance, the result is the same - a serious battle with monsters awaits you ahead. Your opponents will be a whole bunch of swampers, big and small. Advice: take a partner with skill and stock up on heavy weapons.

Part one

Fallout 4 passage of Fort Independence will be a real test of your strength and accuracy. The first task will be to clear the yard. You will be attacked by soft-shelled Swampers, whom you have probably already met and know how to deal with them. Advice: shoot accurately in the head, one or two hits are enough for them to die quickly. A lot of trouble will be caused by nests with swamp eggs from which Cubs will hatch. All these evil spirits will consider you their main enemy, so if possible, immediately shoot as many eggs as possible before any of them hatch yet.

Part two

After the adults are killed, it is necessary to destroy the remaining eggs in the nests in the yard, inside the building and on the walls. Attention: do not rush to destroy them! First of all, check all the nooks and crannies of the castle for weapons and ammunition, as they will be very useful in the final battle with the monster.

By destroying the eggs while completing the Fallout 4 Assault on Fort Independence quest, you will find that an enemy has appeared that is much more serious than the various small fry - the Uterus of the Swamp. Now we will see with our own eyes who destroyed the Castle.

It would not be difficult to kill her by hiding in the building and shooting from the loopholes and windows. The problem is that she appears before you destroy all the remaining eggs and swamps on the territory of the Fort. Plus, during the battle, she manages to spawn entire flocks of Cubs, which will not have any difficulty getting you even inside the Castle.

In progress last battle you will have:
Boss - Swamp Queen, who spits acid;
a bunch of different small fry that you can’t hide from, and that will chase you and constantly annoy you.

The main damage will be done by the Matka, spitting acid rain at you, which even power armor will not protect you from. Caught in acid rain. immediately go into the Pip-Boy and start healing, since the damage from it is not instantaneous, but lingering and you simply won’t notice how you die. The giant is well damaged by the launcher that you will find in the building and the rockets to it. You can deal with small items using a flamethrower and charges for it, you will also find them in the building.

Final part

The next task will be Fallout 4 Assault on Fort Independence to turn on the radio transmitter. To do this, you will need to build generators with a total capacity of at least 10; if possible, build with 15 at once. Hold down the V key and the construction menu will become available to you. We make generators and connect them to the remote control, after which Preston will be delighted, we talk to him and the quest will be accepted.

Adviсe

The task is completed, but it’s too early to leave, since the Castle is also your settlement and needs to be equipped. From the created generators, draw a wire to an inconspicuous post that stands inside the yard near the hole in the wall. This way, you can electrify the entire Castle, since the wiring and lighting inside are already installed. Also, if there is enough power, the water treatment plant, which is already connected and located behind the castle, will automatically start working. In this simple way you will solve your water problem.

If you are curious, you will find a basement in Fallout 4 Fort Independence. To do this, in construction mode, find a blockage in one of the rooms and dismantle it, this will lead you to a dungeon with chemicals. laboratory and a small warehouse of provisions and weapons, you can also find a nuclear unit below.

In previous quests I had already killed the professional killer Kellogg, defeated the Institute hunter and even visited the radioactive sea, but surprisingly this task turned out to be more difficult than all the previous ones combined. Here I needed power armor upgraded to type C, 10 fragmentation mines, about 10-12 shots from RPGs, several anti-radons and about five stimulants. And a whole mountain of cartridges for shooting swamp creatures.

1. Meet the Minutemen at the castle walls.
We gather with Harvey and other Minutemen near the walls of the Castle.

2. Develop a plan of attack.
I chose a plan with our team divided into several groups.

3. Clear the yard.
The castle will have to be cleared of swampers. These are quite evil creatures with armored shells. At this stage, I advise you to try to destroy as many swamp eggs as possible so that they do not get in the way in the future.

4. Destroy the swamp eggs.
Before you start destroying the eggs, I advise you to lay as many mines as you have in the crack in the wall, through which the swamp queen will attack you. See the screenshot below - throw mines where the queen is standing.

Now we run and destroy the eggs. After destroying two or three piles, a super boss will attack you.

5. Kill the swamp queen.
I laid 10 fragmentation mines - it cost the queen half her health. I took the second half to her with the help launcher. Taking into account several misses, it took me about 10 missiles. Advice: try to stay as far away from her as possible. she spits radioactive slurry from which even power armor cannot save.

6. Meet the Minutemen in the yard.
Congratulations, you killed the boss! Now you need to talk to Harvey.

7. Turn on the radio transmitter.
To turn on the radio transmitter that is in the center of the castle, we need 10 electricity. I built two medium generators and ran wires from them to the transmitter.

8. Talk to Preston Garvey.
We talk to Preston again. He will say that the capture of the castle is a very big event. And you know, I agree with him :) and this is where the quest ends.

In this part the fight against ghouls of different stripes in the Hubris Comics building. The legendary enemy got this “protective armor of synths for right hand» (Reduces damage while stationary by 15%)

A Glowing Ghoul lurks on the top floor. I figured out where he was waiting for me and threw grenades at his position behind the screen. Since I didn’t get close, the trigger apparently didn’t work, and the ghoul continued to stand in his cover, not paying attention to the exploding grenades. A total of 6 grenades were needed.

Among the unusual and pleasant finds: several different magazines, a fake silver submachine gun, a Silver Cloak costume and a Grognak costume.

Path through the destroyed center of Boston

The first third of the video is still from Hubris Comics. Then I continue my way through the city to Marowski’s laboratory. I met the so-called “Swan”.

The swan is a giant super mutant that lives in a pond. It is impossible to resist him, since with one blow he tore off both my legs. So far no one has given the task to kill this monster, but I think this will have to be done at a certain stage of the passage. I don’t even know yet what tactics will be with him. Most likely mines. Let's see.

Fights with an ax and in the Grognak costume look somewhat comical, but effective. In addition, savings on ammunition.

The most difficult of the human enemies are the "arrows". They appear to be more organized than raiders, wear military uniforms, and generally have more advanced weaponry.

South Boston

The video just begins with a long battle with one of the shooters and his robot Mr. Brave. These two chased me around the city for 10-15 minutes (!) and still caught up with me when I stopped at some ghoul-trader to fry some dog meat for the road.

Next episode is the South Boston Police Department. I read all the terminals, opened all the locks and cracked the safe. I didn’t take away anything particularly valuable, but I generally enjoyed rummaging around. In such abandoned buildings (radocroaches and other little things don’t count), you can calmly explore the rooms, read the terminals, find out some unusual story etc. The center of the map in Fallout 4 is an extremely busy place, so such a break is always welcome.

Towards the end I reached the port area.

Fish factory "Chetrekhlistnik"

"Four Leaf". The same place Trish directed me to (Diamond City Blues quest). And again there are assorted wild ghouls. Marowski's lab is upstairs, but I first entered through the main entrance on the first floor. Here you can collect all sorts of useful things like nuclear blocks, kill the legendary ghoul-devourer, and even a shrunken one.

Fish factory "Chetrekhlistnik"

In the first half of the video there are unsuccessful attempts to deal with the legendary and shrunken, although I have already begun to feel for the right strategy. As usual, you need to find a point where the enemy cannot reach. Luckily, an old loader turned up, from which you can fire at the ghouls in relative safety.

However, there is a problem. The ghouls hide after a couple of shots, and we have to go out into the open. To avoid being surrounded, I mined possible approaches to my position. One mine is unlikely to kill a strong enemy, but this way I will know when someone enters the perimeter and I need to quickly hide.

The reward is “lucky metal armor for the right leg” (+2 luck) from the legendary ghoul.

Marowski Laboratory, General Atomics

The lower part of the “Four Leaf” has been cleared, now you can go in search of Marovsky’s laboratory. To do this, you need to deactivate the traps in the correct order. Honestly, I don’t remember what Trish said about these rays and why I even needed to deactivate them (perhaps it opens the door to the laboratory if you don’t know the password), but I did it just in case. Extremely simple. In the order shown in the figure, you need to go through each beam.

I climb the stairs to the roof, where I meet another batch of ghouls, and among them again the legendary devourer. It's good that I still have mines left. This is the thing he dropped for his left hand (+1 to strength and endurance).

And here is the laboratory! The Diamond City Blues quest has been successfully completed, despite the incomprehensible death of Paul Pembroke.

The ghoul employees in the laboratory are very weak, so it is not difficult to kill them. I took one of the protective kits they worked in. Gives 1000(!) radiation protection.

In terms of loot, I expected more from the laboratory. But there are not as many drugs as we would like :)

Next to the Four Leaf Plant is the General Atomics plant. Came in out of pure curiosity. If you don’t know, General Atomics is a large corporation that supplied most of the reactors for Vault-Tec Shelters, and also produced robots such as Mister Helper, Mister Brave, Protectron, etc.

Inside, as expected, I met robotic mister assistants. Only spoiled ones. Instead of helpers, they turned into killers.

General Atomics plant

This video contains only General Atomics.

The most important part is passing interesting tests for robots (7:57). In three different rooms you need to perform a certain action that will prove your professional suitability.

  1. Choose an appropriate punishment for the child who broke the vase. Solution: turn off the radio.
  2. Meet the needs of a crying baby. Solution: Bring a bottle with a pacifier to the crib.
  3. Remove all dangerous objects from the room. Here we had to tinker, as there is an object on the floor (an adjustable wrench) that is difficult to notice. The rest were quite distinguishable: a machete from the refrigerator, cigarettes, etc. Walkthrough of this room (20:11)

As a reward for passing this test, he received three nuclear units at once.

General Atomics Plant and Fort Independence

Unfortunately, it was not possible to fully explore the plant. There remained a room with Major Brave, whom I could not defeat. Problem number one is that it fires a burst very painfully. Problem number two - I have almost no pulse explosives (there were 2 pulse mines, but this is too little). So I postponed the major until better times.

In general, we can say that the area is quite dangerous and the enemies here are stronger. Still want to explore more small area peninsula type.

Imagine my surprise when, among the destroyed neighborhoods, I met Preston Garvey! How did you get here? The first thought is a bug; then I remembered that we agreed to storm the Castle (the task “Assault on Fort Independence”). And this place is right here. Okay, let's try it.

The first task is to clear the yard of swampers. And here there are not only soft-shelled mires, but also ordinary ones. They are darker in color and more resistant to damage. A lot of time has passed since passing through the water treatment plant, so now these mutant crabs no longer seem such formidable opponents (although they can, of course, kill).

Assault on Fort Independence, Mother of the Swampmen

We continue to storm the Fort with the Minutemen. Now you need to break the swamp eggs. How well and simply everything turns out!

The Legendary Glowing Swamp with a Skull that suddenly emerged from the ground made completing the task much more difficult.

He kills with one blow and runs very fast, so the option with an ax will not work. There is a small roof over the workshop, which will be very useful. We begin a classic “shoot and run” battle. The slightest mistake and miscalculation with OD ends in the loss of limbs.

The lid mines fit very well. If I had more of them, it would take much less time. As a reward, the legendary crab dropped a “Killer Automatic Laser Pistol” (increasing damage to people by 50%)

And just when I decided that it was all over and I could relax, a new, even more dangerous enemy appeared! Swamp queen.

Standing on the roof and shooting from afar will not work. The monster spits deadly acid at any distance. There was nothing in inventory from acid damage. Out of despair, I put on a protective anti-radiation suit - it didn’t help :)

But there is nowhere to retreat. You just need to hide better. For example, behind a wall, outside. And launch it little by little, one rocket at a time, into the uterus. At this point I had a lot of rockets accumulated, since I didn’t use them. Plus he injected Psycho for increased damage. Med-X for acid protection will not help, so there is no point in wasting it. Preston Garvey and his comrades also really helped and damaged the boss, although towards the end of the battle I noticed that Preston was running around without a weapon. The ammunition may have run out.

Activate tower in Fort Independence

248 experience was given just for killing the queen, but to complete the quest you need to activate the radio tower in Fort Independence, which requires 10 electricity. A large generator gives that much, but I didn’t have enough aluminum for it. So throughout the video I'm looking around for aluminum parts. Unsuccessfully.

Finding Aluminum, South Boston School

At the beginning of the video there was a slight embarrassment. While searching for parts for the generator, I turned off the recording, but in one of the eateries I noticed a hatch in the floor with a “Very Complex” lock. My level already allowed me to increase my ability to break into such locks. Therefore, having distributed the experience points, I turn on the recording to capture the moment of finding some untold riches or fancy armor, in general something cool. Instead, right on the threshold I was received by a group of brutals led by a certain Chancer. He retreated with nothing. Somehow there are not enough secretive skills, I'll have to think about it.

Otherwise, I continue to look for aluminum parts. Explored a school building in South Boston. He fought with local super mutants.

I found settlers hiding on the roofs, but there were no survivors. I collected some things and fried some meat for the journey. The mass of the aluminum found is still zero. Let me remind you that to enhance realism, fast movements I don't use the map :)

Assault on Fort Independence: completed. Back to Diamond

I never managed to build a large generator; instead, I installed two medium ones (they give 5 electricity each). I connected the whole thing and activated the tower. Assault on Fort Independence: completed. Amen.

Now the Minutemen have Radio Liberty, whose repertoire consists of one tune. At first everything is fine, but then this cello begins to irritate and put pressure on the brain. It sounds equally loud in any room of the fort, but there is no way to turn it off :)

Okay, if you like it, then listen for yourself, but it’s time for me to go back to Diamond. I return the same way I came, avoiding the posts of raiders and super mutants.

Long live civilization!

I decided to visit the Pembroke house (I picked up its key from the body). Only one child sleeps here - Pete Pembroke. Your father won't come back, but where is Paul's wife? In a bar or ran away with Henry Cook? And what the hell happened to Paul Pembroke? Why did he die? Eh, I shouldn't have taken it with me.

After that, I go to the link of my settlements Oberland-Greygarden. It's time to figure out how to build stores. It’s not included in the video, but that’s the situation. Built a lighthouse to attract new people to Oberland. The settlers fell so actively that the lighthouse had to be turned off (there was no steel to build new residential blocks). Set up an average merchant store. Appointed a person for it. And lo and behold, the money, although small, came (you can take the profit in the workshop menu). However, after I installed the second store in Oberland, the lids from the workshop disappeared and no longer wanted to appear there, although before they would drip regularly if you slept for a day. I don’t know if it’s a bug or not, we need to figure it out. I hope it was not in vain that I pumped up the charisma of the “local leader.”

If we join this group, we will help restore good name Minutemen, but for this you need to complete some quests.

Walkthrough for the Minutemen Fallout 4

The very first quest that introduces us to the Minutemen is called “Call of Freedom.” As soon as main character leaves Vault 111, meets Preston Garvey and receives unique weapon Laser gun and power armor.

Then you need to take additional task and lead residents to the place former home main character - Sanctuary Hills. There, Preston Garvey gives us additional instructions that will help gather all the Minutemen in the Commonwealth and ordinary residents will join them.

The Minutemen's first step

Tanpines Bluff: Talk to residents. After arriving in a small settlement, one of the local residents will ask for help from our character and send him to a factory nearby with the goal of killing the raiders, the task is called “Assembly workshop of the Corvega car: kill the raiders.” We look at the map of our Pip-Boy and kill all the raiders. The task is inherently simple and it won’t be too difficult to kill enemies; we also recommend inspecting the workshop area for additional ammunition and equipment - that’s all you need in the initial stages.

We return to Tenpines Bluff and turn in the quest. Once completed, you can use the workbench to build a settlement in this location.
Final completion of the “First Step” quest with Preston Garvey.

Fallout 4 Response Service

To complete another Minutemen quest, go to the Abernathy farm and take “Retrieve Mary’s medallion from the Olivia satellite station.” The farmer will send to the Olivia station, which is nearby. There we kill all the raiders, and check the leader for the medallion. Be careful, as the quest enemy is in power armor.

When we took the medallion, we turn in the quest to farmer Abernathy and then he will join the Minutemen.

Fallout 4 assault on fort independence

When the above quests for the Minutemen are completed, Preston Garvey will tell you about the main location of the faction before its collapse. The base was located at Fort Independence, which is now infested with Commonwealth monsters. We, along with the other Minutemen, must clear the area.

First we meet with the team under the castle walls. Then the characters will be asked to choose an attack path: assault, split up and attack from two sides, lure enemies into a pre-arranged ambush. We advise you to choose an attack from two sides.

When you enter the castle territory, you need to destroy the swamp eggs. From time to time, larvae will crawl out of them and annoyingly bite the main character.

Advice: shoot the swampmen in the face, it’s easier to kill them this way than attacking their chitinous shell.

When we destroy the swampwort eggs, the final part of the quest Assault on Fort Independence awaits us - the boss Swampwomb Queen. We advise you to keep your distance from it and not to get under the slime, which causes periodic damage. If you previously found a grenade launcher, then use it and aim for the face, but not the shell.

After dealing with Matka, we go to the center of the castle and we are given a sub-quest where we need to turn on the transmitter. Here we build a generator so that there are 10 units of electricity and a transmitter.

We turn in the quest to Preston and can build a new base in the Minuteman Castle in Fallout 4.

Fallout 4 task old guns walkthrough

Quest Expansion

The Minutemen have several similar quests, but their essence is the same. Preston Garvey gives tasks to search for a settlement and offer help - we go to the specified point and talk with the local residents, who are sent to clear the area of raiders or monsters. At the end of the quest, we are given caps and the opportunity to build a settlement where we submitted the task, as well as encouragement from Garvey.

You also need to build a generator, a Recruiting Beacon.

Defense of the Minutemen and settlements

From time to time, all settlements will be attacked by enemies, a signal about this will be sent to the Pip-Boy. We go to the settlement and deal with the offenders. It is worth noting that if you ignore the signals, the enemy can take away the location.

Many inexperienced Fallout 4 players cannot figure out how to kill the swamp queen. In fact, the answer to this question is simple: you take it and kill it like any other mob. But first things first.

The Swamp Queen is one of the most powerful mobs in Fallout 4. It is a kind of mini-boss, which also has a number of abilities that make fighting it very difficult for an unleveled character. Unlike ordinary swampers, the swamp queen is capable of not only fighting hand-to-hand, but also attacking from afar with jets of acid that cause significant damage to the character, so simply shooting her from afar, periodically running away, will not work. In addition, the queen constantly gives birth to her cubs, which, although they do not cause much harm to the Persian, when there are a large number, they begin to noticeably get in the way and jump in front of the face, making it difficult to shoot.

However, the swamp queen also has her own weak sides, which make it easy to destroy it, earning good experience. The swamp queen is the largest mob in the game, so it is unable to penetrate small rooms and dilapidated buildings. Hiding there and hiding from the jets of acid, the player can easily shoot it without receiving a single damage.

Although this mob can be found in other parts of the Commonwealth, usually the first meeting with the swamp queen occurs in the quest “Assault on Fort Independence” to clear the Castle given away by the Minutemen. And if the player has not studied beforehand Fallout walkthrough 4, she comes as a real surprise to him. However, even if you are poorly prepared for battle, you can deal with the swamp queen.

A small nuance: if you feel that you came to storm Fort Independence too early and are absolutely unable to kill the swamp queen, no matter what they shoot at her, postpone completing the quest and simply run away from the location - this will not threaten to worsen relations with the Minutemen. And the swamp queen will leave the Castle herself and move to the river flowing past, and will sit there calm and non-aggressive, so it will be much easier to get close to her and shoot with something heavy.

So how do you kill a swamp queen?

1. The easiest option is to shoot it with the Fat Man, carefully sneaking up to the mob. The Fat Man is a bit tricky to aim, so you may have to expend a few mininukes, so bring a few spares with you. Most likely, even with minimal character leveling, 2-3 shots hitting the target will be enough. Don't forget that the weight of each charge is 12 units.

2. Hide in any building or within the walls of a castle and shoot the swamp queen from some weapon at high speed - “plasma”, Gauss carbine or shotgun.

3. When completing the quest “Assault on Fort Independence”, you can pre-mined the place where the swamp queen entered the Castle with several plasma mines.

4. If you have upgraded the “Ninja” perk, which increases damage with melee weapons by 10 times, then you can kill the swamp mother with melee weapons by sneaking up on her. A super hammer is an excellent choice for this method.

How to kill the swamp queen and get maximum experience

For a leveled-up player, a swamp queen is not only a completely harmless mob, but also a source large quantity experience. However, to get the maximum amount of experience points per kill, you need to act in a cunning way.

You will need the third rank of the Savant perk, which allows you to receive triple experience for kills within a minute after the ability of the same name is triggered. Hide from the swamp mother behind various buildings and destroy her cubs (a combat knife is best for this - quickly and without the need to reload) until the Savant works. After this, you need to kill the swamp queen within a minute in any way, for example, shoot her with a Gauss.
