One of the most controversial characters in the animated series about the adventures of SpongeBob is Squidward. Squidward Quincy Tentacle - that's exactly what his sound sounds like full name- an octopus, but some people confuse it with a squid, obviously because it does not have eight tentacles - there are only six of them. The animators of the series explained this artistic decision by saying that with eight tentacles, Squidward would look too bulky. And so - always fit and even skinny, which perfectly complements his character, Squidward gets by just fine with the help of six tentacles.
Squidward was unlucky with his place of residence. Let his cute little house unusual shape both convenient and interesting, but he managed to settle down between the houses of Patrick and Sponge! This is all Squidward - against the backdrop of the always cheerful, sweet and restless characters of the animated series, this six-fingered inhabitant of the seabed seems like a real alien. And this is natural - after all, his mood never rises, he is full of cynicism, sarcasm and anger towards the residents of Bikini Bottom around him. The only person Squidward has a positive attitude towards is himself. Yes, this character is not without narcissism - in fact, he adores himself and is constantly trying to become famous so that the world knows about his genius. The path to this, as Squidward sincerely believes, lies through his artistic talent. In the animated series, you can see many times how the octopus plays the flute, or tries to take part in a singing competition, become an actor or a sculptor. In the animated series, by the way, you can see how he sometimes immerses himself in the ordinary world, full of ordinary things, such as Krabby Patties, and sincerely enjoys it - but still denies this to the public.
Another disadvantage in Squidward's character is envy. His eternal enemy is fellow student Squilliam, who has succeeded in life and is a wealthy, respected octopus in society. Squidward often tries to reach the level of his enemy and teach him a lesson, to show him that he, too, is not made by a finger, however, as a rule, nothing works out for Squid and he is in Once again becomes a target for jokes and ridicule.

1. The idea to create SpongeBob SquarePants came to the mind of Stephen Hillenburg, who previously worked marine biologist
Stephen Hillenburg studied in a specialty related to the organization of rational use of marine natural resources.
